Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Wii U - Extremely Slow Download Speeds. WHY?!

man if I could get your "slow" speeds id be happy haha.

Saying that. Clearly either throttling or their servers are somewhere on the moon with a wirelss 10G link.

why are people saying that it's the wifi? there can be so many reasons it is slow: your isp, peering of your isp. or perhaps sony chose the same content-delivery-network-provider as sony with their psn which is also be said to be slow for many users.

i am pretty certain that is what sony did

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

- George Orwell, ‘1984’

It's a Network load / volume issue. I think 1 million Wii U's are going online this week so its' to be expected. Day 1 was noticeably slow. Things were very smooth 2nd day... and it will only get better.

but nintendo should've taken care before as it was clear to them that this load will occur. and btw: has situation changed on psn? is it faster now or still slow? last i heard was a while ago.

Easier said than done. They are not able to test a workload of hundreds of thousands connections. They just can start the whole thing, throttle, watch, tweak and improve. If it stays that slow until the end of this year, you guys can go ahead and blame the crap out of them for being lazy and behind again.

ehh... nintendo knew how big the update was. nintendo knew how much wiiu's they delivered. multiply, done. also they could've contacted the cdn-provider before as they have proficient knowledge on network-load for sure.

i don't want to blame nintendo alone, perhaps they just chose the wrong cdn. to me, this is not a big issue as i expected something like this. if it had been perfect at start i would have been surprised.

the intitial big update is normal for a launch these days i'd think but it can vary with the other downloads/updates somethime they are just on go slow with my equipment/internet sometimes fast as hell but of course everyone is trying to to the same thing as you surely it must effect nintendo somehow

So much trolling in this thread is not even funny. PS3 guys should be ashamed of themselves for being such bad sports.
