I was kidding badgey! Yeah, I know they will, they said they'll have it working in the future. Last time I checked, it's not in the works for neither MS nor Sony, yet they are technologically endowed.

It's not in the works because MS and Sony's consoles permitted one account to be used on multiple consoles from day one. (Read: since 2005!)

this is stupid, what if the Wii U breaks? (unlikely but still), then you are screwed.

Presumably you can call Nintendo's customer support. But it is rather pathetic that you should have to do that in 2012.

Yes, but can it handle 99999999999999 .... 9999 ten ten ten ten billions billion.

Actually you're going to have to explain to me how it works because I have an xbox live account and wasn't able to connect to it at my friend's house.

You should be able to store stuff like this in the cloud by now

They confirmed this when I talked to them yesterday. So I'll have to make a new Nintendo ID once I get my system back and re-add all my friends, which sucks but it's all good.

Who confirmed this?

It makes no sense.

1) Nintendo has been generalizing their entire online services. eShops are now "Nintendo" not Wii or DS or 3DS... the login is the "Nintendo ID" not Wii number etc.

2) The system asks you for an existing or new ID at setup. Why in the world would it ask you for an existing if you couldn't use it?

Until I see this from NINTENDO... this has to be false. It simply makes no logical sense.

I can confirm.  I just got a new Wii U and tried to log in with my same NNID on the old system and it said 'no, it's already tied to another system'.  :(

So I changed my NNID to "Kenology18" and now everyone in the Wii U friend thread is readding me.

I'm assuming they're asking you to put in an existing one in case you created it on 3DS or something.  Once 3DS is on the Nintendo Network, you'll put in your existing Wii U on.

That really sucks. What happens if the system bricks and you need to buy another one? You're essentially screwed.

You are screwed if you bought lots of downloadable games, because you will never get them back. XD

looks like the wiiU does not offer account sharing,  so I guess every game you buy is only playable on 1 console instead of 2 consoles like the PS3 (dont know about the 360). And I think that is a major thing people needs to take into consideration when buying the system.

My brother (who lives in another country) and I share the same account on the VITA and PS3, so when we buy games digitally we will be able to play those games without spending more money. I think that is something great.  Hopefully Sony will continue to offer this :).

And if the system dies, if you bought lots of downloadable stuff you are basically screwed because you wont be able to download them again.

this sucks for WiiU owners.

Could you fellas do us the great honor of actually reading the entire thread?  Perhaps you may come across the fact that you can indeed switch your account to a new console.

It's been years since I've touched my Live account, but I think you may have had to either transfer it to a memory card or use the recover gamertag option before. But now that Live has cloud saves, I think you can do it that way.

I don't want to use my game saves, I want to use my ID to log into COD online. Maybe I'll have to try the recover gamertag option.

That's what I mean. You used to have to save your profile to a memory stick, but now you can do it through the cloud, I think. I remember having to recover my gamertag a few times, but it always took like a half hour or something ridiculous like that to do so.
