Forums - Gaming Discussion - The Greatest Console ever?

The greatest console is...

NES 42 11.80%

SNES 72 20.22%

N64 38 10.67%

Wii 14 3.93%

Playstation 23 6.46%

Playstation2 127 35.67%

Atari 2600 2 0.56%

SEGA Genesis 11 3.09%

Magnovox Odyssey 2 0.56%

Xbox360 25 7.02%

Total:356

PS1 is my favourite console ever. It's also the first I ever owned, though.

Nintendo 64
PS2 is overrated but great console indeed the only one I enjoyed much from Sony but not the best

"Nintendo fan for life"

Game Boy!

I LOVE ICELAND!

I agree Ps2 is overrated and I actually got bored of it and was considering buying a Gamecube, upto the ps2 I had played with a different controller each machine I had owned, Ps1 for me was a way better and more interesting console, but again all opinion.

Well, if we're talking most influential and important, then it's either the Atari 2600 or the NES.

But if we're talking all-around best it's either SNES or PS2.

Great hardware, really great controllers, and, most importantly, the two best collections of software. SNES probably has more top 20 games, but PS2 has more great games overall. It's a really tough choice.

SNES by so much

The PS2, even though I'm old, this is still my favourite. Followed by the PS1 and N64.

Fantastic library of games, DVD playback, incredible 3rd party support, good pricing, bunch of cheap games in Platinum segment and a really good gamepad.

N64 was far and away the most fun I had on a console. Local multiplayer was amazing on it, and I love me some local multiplayer

In all honesty the Playstation 3 followed by the SNES.

Why ? It only does everything, and my interpretation of that phrase is that it has the most well rounded and well balanced library in the history of gaming consoles only matched by the SNES.

The ps2 for example was a great success but it had to do with a reason outside gaming itself, which was the lack of hardware competition. Its library was great but it a bit too one sided. It did have half a dozen of MegaTen games but as I said, one sided as whole.

Within the PS3 you can find some of the best interpretation of every gaming genre and style.

PS2 because that and the PS1 are what I grew up playing.
