We totally need a new Grandia though. Such a shame... it still has the best combat system of any RPG i have played. Heck i even finished Grandia Xtreme because i just love the combat system. Grandia 3 had an average plot, but the awesome combat system was there and the graphics were nice.

WTB more Grandia (IV). :(

Same here. I love Grandia and Grandia II, probably some of my favourite games of all time (Grandia even enters my Top 50 list), but if it weren't for the superb battle system that the series has, I wouldn't touch neither Grandia III and Xtreme. It's a shame that they blew the series (plot and story wise).

If they ever do a new Grandia, I hope that it follows the footsteps of the first two.

100% agree.  Glad to see I am not alone from Saturn/PSone and Dreamcast/PStwo days of this series being the pinnacle of battles.

What's sad is that Grandia III promised a lot on the first disc, it almost made my hopes go up after the butchering that was Xtreme, but then came the second disk and it just went downhill again.

Grandia...some of the best "One Liners" of any RPG I have ever played.  Going from super Upbeat Justin to Dark and Brooding Ryudo (I actually enjoyed Xtreme for the type of game it was...but did not need to be called Grandia), just good stuff.

Some of the things Ryudo would say in G2 were just amazing...oh fuck it.  Going to play it again.

Ryudo is pretty damn amazing. His exchanges early in the game with Elena crack me up everytime I replay the game.

Elena - "Are you making fun of me?"
Ryudo - "No, I've been making fun of you for the past half-hour princess. Aren't we a little slow to notice?"

Or one of my personal favourites: "Are you waiting for me to give a damn?" XD.

Millenia - "Oh, save the drama for your mamma. I know EVERYTHING about you. Don't forget that."  to Elena!

Millenia with the "Deep Fried Goodness!"

Or The kids being all scared of Elena and her talking with Ryudo about it:

Elena: Ryudo... If that girl were indeed Aira, I would like to speak with her again... Ryudo: Huh? Elena: I keep thinking about what she said... Ryudo: "Don't eat me?" Well, you HAVE been putting on a few pounds. You have to see it from her point of view. Roan: Oh, stop. She was an odd little girl... And I wonder... was that garden real?

I love that one regarding to Aira, and Millenia dialogues are always great XD.

Another great character, who often gets overlook on Gradia II, is Tio. When Mareg dies on Valmar's Moon, when she says:

I think I know now what a "heart" is... But... it is a thing filled with sorrow. I would rather have never learned of it. Mareg... twice now you have showed me what it means to have a heart...

That was a pretty heartwrenching moment. Grandia II had some pretty great dialogue overall.

Yup.  It probably has one of the best written dialogs of any RPG I have ever played.  Others might have better stories, but for character interaction with just enough humor its top notch.

That's also what i loved about covenant the conversations , like when Karin gets changed out of her uniform and Yuri and Gepetto are perving on her then she socks them , Gepetto says to yuri (why they're laying on the floor) , did you get a look and yuri grinning says sure did old man and Gepetto replies damn all i saw was stars.

Shadow Hearts definitely had top notch Dialog wrapped in humor as well.

legend of dragoon and valkyrie profile

If I remember correctly, Tri-Ace has said that both Valkyrie Profile and Star Ocean franchises are done. Still holding out for at least a new Star Ocean game. Save for SO3, love the series. Hated the third game.

As for more game series:
Custom Robo
Dual Hearts
Steambot Chronicles
Breath of Fire (Seriously when Dragon's Dogma was first teased by Capcom, I thought it would be a new BoF game)
Drakengard

I loved shadow hearts, one of my favorites all time.

I never skip this intro.

Japanese developers should really start using Kickstarter, I'd personally fund all their projects.

Shadow Hearts and Shadow Hearts Covenant both had amazing conversations, especially when Yuri is on his sarcastic side. Also, I cracked up everytime Joachim appears on Covenant, given his transformation into a wrestler dude xD. Also, Karin and Lucia's exchanges were always funny, especially when Lucia wanted to make her dance on a see-through outfit .

:'( Cost of development this generation is easily over $1,000,000 which is so much more than any kickstarter fund, ever.
I don't know how much money I need to throw at Japanese developers to get a steady stream of RPGs stateside... I love RPGs, sigh..
