So just before PS4 arrives PS3 should sit around 85m.

Doesn't seem likely. If the PS3 releases November next year, then it would need to sell 15m from now to then in order to reach your prediction. The PS3 has never sold 15m/year and its definitely not going to happen in 2013.

PS3 exclusives will be flooding the PS3 in 2013. It will inspire sales at all points of the year. It could happen.

Who says it's going to launch in November? Also, it would be less than 15 mil considering the numbers reported were 2 weeks ago... probablly 14.5mil.

14.5m is still unlikely. If it sold 14.5m, then the PS3 would magically reverse current downward trends to an extreme degree. Hell, it would match its peak numbers. very unlikely. And If the PS4 launches in December, then the Ps3 would need to sell about 12-13m in 2013 in order to reach 85m. 12-13m is very unlikely.

Magically reverse downward trend? I didn't know an inevitable price drop was magic.

Lets say Q1 2014 when PS4 impact is still relatively low. I think its safe to say PS3 will set around 83-85m on Q1 2014, and will keep on selling 15m concurrently with the PS4. As PS3 sales will shift to emerging markets.

It makes no sense to release the PS4 in Q1 2014. Why would they miss a launch holiday when its only a few months away? When was the last time a console launched during the first quarter?

History has shown us that this far into the generation, a price cut isn't going to push a console to the extreme amounts that you're suggesting.

I was talking about a situation where PS4 would already have been launched, thats why I said in my first sentence 'Q1 2014 when PS4 impact is still relatively low", since you know, the system is brand new, it wouldn't cannibalze ps3 sales.

Anyone who wants God of War already has a PS3. Be3ond certainly isn't going to shift any hardware, and TLoU is a wildcard, by it likely won't push any hardware also. This far into the gen, with the next gen already among us, there's not going to be any drastic surges in sales.

Oh, you've changed the statement. Okay then, that makes more sense.

Yeah, just like everyone who wants Halo 4 has a 360 already... and excuse me... but what history are you talking about? I didn't know there was ever a console that cfost over 250 dollars six years after its launch.
