I agree with you 100%.  People say that it is close minded to dismiss all of Islam as a religion dead set on killing anyone who dares to not believe what they believe, but why should I think anything else when that's all I see of the religion?  I have never seen a Muslim outreach program or charity of any kind or anything good come from it at all for that matter.  I'm sure that there are/were plenty of Nazis who are good and peaceful people too but that doesn't make the Nazis any less evil in my eyes.

On the other hand I have never once heard of a terrorist Jew so yeah Israels cool in my book.

What you should really ask yourself is: Why is the information I've heard about that conflict so one-sided, biased and filtered that I could end up being so bad informed?

Why have I never heard about things like Irgun, Kahane, Lehi, the Deir Yassin massacre? (Maybe not even about the "kosher nostra"?)

Why have I never heard about the endless number of muslim charity and outreach programs? Why don't I know that one of the major reasons groups like Hamas are somewhat popular among the population is exactly because of their charity work?

Why don't I know that it's just utter bullshit that "muslims are set on killing anyone who dares to not believe what they believe"? Is it really possible that I've never even heard about the fact that Islam clearly states that jews and christians are "dhimmi", people who are officially protected because of their religion? That there was never any relevant conflict between jews and muslims until the events that happened in early 20th century palestine, while historically the jews were constantly endangered, killed and discriminated against by christians? Just a few years ago, the head of the jewish population in Iran (which, by the way, has the largest jewish population in the entire middle east except for Israel of course) wrote an angry letter, stating that even in the worst of times, the jews were always better off in Iran than in Europe.

That is the funny thing (or at least the proof that it isn't all about anti-semitism): Iran makes these crazy holocaust-denial claims and speaks of wiping Israel off the map, but they really don't hassle their own Jewish population (the Baha'i on the other hand <_>)

I should add, however, that this unfortunately wasn't the case when Israel was first founded, when a lot of Jewish populations were forced out of Arab countries like Iraq or Yemen

I really don't like how a lot of Islamic states deal with apostates and groups that they consider heretical. The Bahai are treated very poorly in several countries and the Ahmadi are treated even worse.

does it really matter what a few jews did ~70years ago when such things were happening on both sides?

why dont we stick with the present.

we could discuss what is proportionate force for example, since the russians already complained about that.

is rocket for rocket fair?

is death for death fair? if the iron dome manages 100% accuracy does israel have no right to respond?

gaza isnt occupied. and if its unelected leaders (hamas was elected into a government and then violently seized full control of the strip meaning they arent elected or legitimate) are hell bent on calling for and attempting to destroy its neighbours. how can peace be achieved with them? reducing the blockade further wont suddenly make hamas more amicable to actual peace.

Until the USA steps back from their blindfolded support for Israel, nothing will ever happen. The good news is that this just a matter of time.

What I find absolutely hilarious by the way is when people claim that the palestinians shouldn't go to the UN to ask for statehood recognition, because the only acceptable way for the palestinians to get their own state is through direct negotiations with Israel. Whoever says something like that is either a complete idiot parroting some crap he's heard on TV or simply trying to fool complete idiots.

Israel has no intention whatsoever to give the palestinians their own state. Why should they?!? Apart from gaining popularity, there's just no advantage for them.

Israel's ruling party even explicitly states in their party program the aim of preventing the establishment of a palestinian state.

So telling  the palestinians that direct negotiations with Israel is the only acceptable option is as ridiculous as telling the jews in warshaw ghetto that direct negotiations with the Nazis is the only acceptable option to improve their situation.

Btw, I wonder if the current tensions between the palestinians and Israel might indeed have to do with the palestinians going to the UN. It seems that Netanyahu and Co. are seriously afraid of them doing so.

they arent a state so it doesnt matter if someone or a group of people says they are.  ( they do not have the function, form or capabilities of a state.  they do not and cannot meet the criteria for a state without a resolution with israel.   if they acted like adults then all the pressure would be on israel to concede to a reasonable settlement.   when they behave like menaces then the focus will always be on their own improvement)

even making comparisons to the nazis here is disgusting and you should be ashamed of yourself.

Some of you make it seem like there is a substantial Jewish population in these Muslim countries. Iran with the largest population of Jews is around 8000, or around .01percent. 99% of the Jewish population was forced to leave their homes in these countries due to persecution from the Muslim populace. None of this property was has ever given back to the Jewish people which were forced to leave.

Most of the these Muslims are demanding land back which they left after trying to wipe the Jews into the sea. I also never hear "Palestinians" demand the land back which other Muslim countries took when they forced them to leave.

Am I the only one who thinks it's hilarious that Hamas and Israel are badmouthing each other on twitter?

I mean what if twitter had existed during WWII. Imagine a flamewar between Hitler and Stalin xD

I feel the Nazi comparison is going too far (afterall Israel has no inclination towards genocide). However I do personally find it sad that a state that was founded after such terrible treatment of their own people is now treating another people so poorly.

They're afraid Because they know that in any straight, up-down General Assembly vote, Palestine will win 100% of the time, because as far as the majority of countries (being ex-colonial or otherwise having a history of western exploitation) are concerned, Palestine is just trying to get their fair share. It's only America in the Security Council that will stop them from gaining full international recognition (Britain and France could be convinced).

Kind of makes you think, after all that bitching we do about Chinese and Russian obstructionism in the Security Council.

its not as if the israelis caused the mess.  there would have been a state of palestine were it not for the arab governments who wanted neither a palestine or israel.  (especially sad when jordan used to be part of the mandate of palestine)

its not like many of the people who left were even in the country for a long time.   it was a fairly small population in the area until the rise of the zionist movement who developed the swamps and deserts making the land prosperous, creating mass immigration from neighbouring countries.
