It did that in little over 3 months (and not killing the previous model)

Its funny seeing the 3DS overtake the PS3 in Japan before the 360 overtakes Wii in the states and PS3 overtakes the Wii in Europe. Kinda shows you just how far behind they were.

3DS is on fire over there. Iwata wasn't kidding last year when he said they would take every possible measure to ensure 3DS was a worthy successor to the first DS.

I think 2013 will surpass 2012 in sales, too. If you look at the release slate in Japan, they've got Monster Hunter 4, Shin Megami Tensei IV, Dragon Quest VII, Luigi's Mansion... all exclusives. Big, big year for 3DS.

Tomodachi Collection is also first half. And Pokémon on second half (no reason why not)

Yeah, always forget about Tomodachi.  That's big over there.  Which Pokemon are you referring to?  I didn't realize there was one.

Nothing confirmed yet, but the big beast itself... the main series pokémon games.

Announced in february, released in september-november. To me, that's not even in doubt it'll happen - it happened before (2 times on GBA and DS) and it'll happen again.

We should start a 3DS 2013 Projection thread for hardware and software...

DQVII, MH4, Luigi's Mansion, Tensei IV, Tomodachi... and we can safely assume there are two or three big first-party games to be announced at E3 for holiday release. I'm guessing a new 2D Kirby, and maybe another Yoshi's Island, or perhaps Alphadream will finally be finished with Mario & Luigi 4? Nintendo will safely secure 3DS's legacy as the go-to place for huge games in Japan by the end of next year.
