As you may know, Google started accepting orders for the Nexus 4 today via their Google Play Store online shop. I have been excited like a child ever since this has been announced a few weeks ago, just couldn't wait for today to finally come.

So this morning right after waking up, I checked the website - but the Nexus 4 was not available yet.
Read somewhere on the internet that Google would start taking orders at 9 a.m. local time. So I checked at 9 a.m. - still nothing.
Hit the refresh button for several minutes - no change.
At about 9:10 I realized that 9:00 was obviously incorrect and that I should be able to take a quick shower.
Came back from the bath about 10-15 minutes later, only to read that the 16GB version that I was interested in was already sold out.

A local website claims that orders for that version were only possible between 9:12 and 9:16. Just a few minutes later, the 8GB version was sold out as well.

I'm pissed. God knows when it will finally be available again! Google has already apologized for the situation but at the same time they announced that currently they really cannot tell when it will be available again.

Anyone had more luck than me?

well, I was only going for the Nexus 10 16GB, which seems to have been the easiest to obtain, and I got one

Nope. I bet there is a very high demand for this. I mean its a top-tier smartphone that is OFF-CONTRACT for only $300. That's only $100 less than nearly all ON-CONTRACT smartphones at launch.

Only bad part is, its only AT&T/T-Mobile here in the states. Had there been a VerizonLTE unlocked version.. I'd been all over this. But I'm also contemplating leaving big red.

I would have considered holding out for a Nexus phone if they weren't tethered to AT&T/T-Mobile.

So I went with iPhone 5 and Verizon. Now that AT&T uses the same price points as Verizon but offers vastly inferior service, I think someone would have to be a bit daft to stay with them (unless they really, really wanted this phone).

Don't do it, especially if you plan to head to AT&T. I went with AT&T when the original iPhone launched and it was good for awhile... Inferior service but $15 cheaper a month and a faster upgrade cycle. Now the price and upgrade cycle are the same as Verizon but the service is still shitty in comparison.

But if you want to save a few bucks and go T-Mobile, I suppose that's not the worst idea in the world.

I envy you, great tablet... I'd love to have one too, if only I hadn't bought a different tablet just a few months ago!

I got a 16GB one in the UK yesterday morning about 8.20AM. I knew they were going to start selling them at 8AM. The Playstore was in bits, took me 20 mins of constantly adding to basket only it to encounter an error at checkout until suddenly it let me buy one about 30 seconds before the stock all went and it permanently said "notify me"...I was swearing like a trooper, it was very annoying.

When I read all the comments of the angry people who didn't get one though, it really brightened up my day.

Also got a 32GB Nexus 7 3G.
