The real question is though, what can Nintendo do about it? How can they make sure 3rd party publishers makes games for Wii U?

If you mean the expectations include games like these, then it's still a wrong hypothesis. Nintendo published Twilight Princess and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption during the Wii's first year and they quickly became million sellers, but where were the third party games comparable to these efforts? They never came to be. Therefore no HD Zelda at launch is no excuse for third parties to not bring their big games over, because Zelda didn't make a difference on the Wii either.

It would be awesome, if Nintendo could shape third party efforts with their first party releases. But sadly that's not the case.

Okay, I see it. But bear with me, I will play devil's advocate, let's test your theory.

After the N64, the cube got most multiplats. I'm not sure if the cube effort can be considered substantial though. Existant, but not substantial.

Though mind you, the cube catered to that market all in all if we consider 3rd party exclusives (capcom's games). But the Wii was sending the opposite message to that market despite those games, because the marketing was alienating to that market, and so was the philosophy (making cheaper budget games). So the Wii didn't get the same multi-plat support. That and, well, it wasn't able to keep up HW-wise.

I think the cube is the best example of the U's current context, and wouldn't you agree that the cube got the multiplats?

I can never understand how ONE PERSON"s opinion suddenly reflects the entire company he works for. I'm fine with "Ubisoft CEO says Wii U is expensive" but to say the whole company agrees--that's just wrong.......but it feels so right.

He officially represents the whole company, so if he says something, it represents the official point of view of the whole company.  Obviously, extraofficially people within the compnay will disagree, but they dont matter, because they dont represent the company.

I'm not either, Ubisoft. I'm not either..

Should have been $250 for the basic package, $300 for the premium.

Will still probably be at least $200 cheaper than the new Sony and MS consoles though.

1. Don't stop to make games that fall under the "casual" label like Wii branded games and Super Mario Bros.
2. Don't leave windows open for third party games to sell. Good games don't need windows and first party games being released too far apart has only ever led to collapsing hardware sales for Nintendo. Nothing good has ever come out of it.
3. Let the industry run its course. They'll keep rising development costs while Microsoft and Sony will put out expensive consoles once again. At some point third parties will have to bring their games to the Nintendo system out of sheer necessity to survive.

The odds are stacked against Nintendo. They are facing incredible bias and resistance. But they can pull through, if they are persistent and make the games the market wants to buy.

Eh... nah, it's Rol. lol.

I am struggling to understand what exactly you are asking here or what you want to test. I said that Nintendo can't shape third party efforts with their first party releases. This means that third parties will do what they want, regardless of what Nintendo does. And this has been pretty much the case on every Nintendo system, be it home console or handheld.

Okay, apply underlined to the 64. I'm not sure it works. Thrid party devs were there when the cube rolled out, they gave their multi-plats to the cube, because there was a market (which Nintendo supported).

Here is a point I totally missed earlier.

Isn't it software that is meant to sell more hardware? Which in turn will lead to more sales of your other games.

Therefore shouldn't we be expecting from the UBISOFT CEO an annoucement saying we are releasing more AAA killer app game? i.e Far Cry 3

its not Ubisoft's job to sell hardware, that makes no sense. That is on Ninty, why should Ubisoft spend money making AAA games on a system that is only just coming out?

So why did developers support PS3? Byt rights after it's first year allsupport shoudl have been dropped due to the sales.

Also every Sony fan keeps saying wait for the killer app for VITA from 3rd party, then it will sell. So I only paplied the same logic.

By making the system sell to the point where it can't be ignored and by supporting it properly for more than four years. This means:

1. Don't stop to make games that fall under the "casual" label like Wii branded games and Super Mario Bros.
2. Don't leave windows open for third party games to sell. Good games don't need windows and first party games being released too far apart has only ever led to collapsing hardware sales for Nintendo. Nothing good has ever come out of it.

what you are describing here is the Wii - plain and simple. it was the number one selling console for years, and still recieved little 3rd party support. all it got was gimped ports, and those don't sell too well.

I think you should have added a fourth point; namely, making adecvate hardware that can somewhat compete with sony and microsofts consoles. as long as it doesn't get gimped ports and is the cheaper option, nintendos console should get better 3rd party support.
