Is it just me or is Halo, the whole franchise, the biggest piece of over-hyped gaming junk since the last Call of Duty game.

Seriously, I really don’t understand why people constantly praise a game like Halo, which is just the same old mindless shooting since the first game in the franchise. I just came from visiting a friend of mine who while looking bored as hell playing Halo 4, tried to convince me that he was having fun playing.

First off, all of Halo 4 looks like every other Halo game before it, with the same one or two shades of the same color palette, metallic grey or blue-grey, throughout the levels. And my friend tries to convince me that Halo 4 is the best looking game on the 360 and is the best looking Halo game. I agree that the character models are noticeably a lot better than Halo: Reach, but beyond that, the game looks and plays very much like Halo: Reach.

Then the enemies are dumb as rocks, and do the same scripted movements over and over again, especially when you die, you see enemies run in the same lines and patterns as they did just before you died. Then my friend tries to convince me that the enemies have “good AI”. What rubbish, after you see enemies being shot in the head only to jump left to right and then right to left, and not even trying to run away or find cover. And don’t even get me started about all the dumb enemy glitches.

I’m no Halo fan, but I do like FPS, like Perfect Dark, Resistance 3 and Bioshock, but I really don’t see what the big deal is about Halo. I played two Halo games and both were rubbish, and from what I’ve seen tonight regarding Halo 4, it doesn’t look like I’ll be a Halo fan anytime soon.

What do you think, am I missing the point about Halo? Or Do you agree that there are much better FPS out there that don’t get the praise that they deserve?

After reading your post its obvious you didnt play the game.

There isnt much use of grey except in like 1 level. I mean theres levels that take place entirely in jungle environments....where your surrounded by green the entire time.

And its the same old "oh i saw a fri3nd play it" story everyone uses......

Your tripping halo has some of the best enemy AI in my opinion.

You know people are grasping at straws when they say Halo doesnt use enough color.....

Halo is without a doubt one of the best shooters around, but it is way overhyped.

Overhyped compared to others popular FPSs - absolutely not.

Is Halo 4 an antiquated shooter that is getting by on graphics over substance - absolutely.

(its still enjoyable, if somewhat dull, graphics are amazing)

Yeah, but like they say, I don't need to get punched in the face to know that it hurts. I also don't need to play Halo 4 to know it's fundamentally no idfferent than other games in the franchise.

Plus, I saw in the game when they released this great evil and the the next level was in a jungle like stage. That was also unimpressive since the game instead of using a grey blue color palette used a light green to dark green one. I've been playing games long enough to know that game developers sometime use this lack of colors to hide deficiencies in the game and so it runs better

I believe they can do nothing more with Halo on the 360 but milk it.

Please play the game before passing judgement. I'm not known to be the most pro 360 user on these forums but I played and loved the shit out of Halo 3 online back in the day. It is actually good believe it or not. Fans will tell you the same about CE and Halo 2. I personally didn't like ODC or Reach, maybe those two were a bit overhyped, but from what little I've played and seen of 4, it's definitely worth the hype.

It's only overhyped if it doesn't live up to expectations.

And it seems to me like Halo fans are very satisfied with Halo 4.
