Halo has always been like another Star Wars to me. What I love about Star Wars is it's rich back story and detailed universe. I feel the same about Halo. 343i has done for Halo what Bungie aspired to yet never attained. Halo is a franchise worthy of it's many medium.

Besides being in space how is it like Starwars? Halo is just a military shooter in space. Starwars is a sci-fi/Fantasy themed story that is about chosen warriors connection with the force with borderlined religious undertones. They live in a universe that struggles to find harmony between the spiritual and technological. Halo has nowhere near the depth. The closest thing to Star Wars this gen was Mass Effect and we all know it was made off of the back of KOTOR.

I didn't say they are exactly the same or even that they have the same themes. But I assure you that Halo has depth. You may like digging into Star Wars lore and reading into its themes more, but Halo is more than a military shooter in space.

Now, what I said was that they both have rich back stories and detailed universes. Yes Mass Effect does too and I love Mass Effect just as much as I love Halo and Star Wars. But since you seem to have so little regard for the Halo universe I'll go ahead and check off the things it has in common with Star Wars. Most of this will apply to Mass Effect too.

1. Detailed timelines that go tens or thousands or millions  of years in their past

2. Intergalactic wars on huge scales

3. Swords composed of white hot energy

4. Energy shooting weapons

5. Machines that act like people

6. Beautiful artwork/special effects/graphics

7. Franchises that span books, games, boardgames, animation, comics, films, toys, etc.

8. Space (I love stuff that takes place in space)

9. Man/Alien made installation/ships the size of planets

10. Cool looking and interesting aliens with just as much history and back story as humans

I really don't care if you think this list is B.S. or if you think Halo isn't as good. What I said still stands. Halo and Star Wars are, to me, big expansive and interesting sci-fi universes that I enjoy very much. I can't get enough Halo or Star Wars. The new Halo Trilogy is off to a spectacular start and I can't wait for the next just like I can't wait for Disney's Star Wars Episode VII. I do feel the same way about Mass Effect, I'm one of the fan that didn't hate the ending of 3 so I'd love a new one.

A: I think the thread title is a bit misleading, Kiki Wolfkill (Gotta love that freaking name!) seems to be more implying that she wants Halo to be the best it can be.

B: Star Wars gets too much flak, I won't deny that it had some lesser parts in the prequels and later games, but I still enjoyed watching all 6 movies and playing games like Knights of the Old Republic ( <3 ), Battlefront, Rogue Squadron, Star Wars: Bounty Hunter (Please make 1313 work LA, please, please, please).

C: While Halo is certainly a lot more expansive than "just some shooter games", it's not RPG like even though the Universe could lend itself to that, maybe a ODST 2 with RPG elements in a truly expansive planet with packed cities would be nice, but that's for game-designers to decide.

D: Enjoy both Universes bitches, enjoy em both.

It would be awesome if they made a Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic type Halo game!

horrible,  I don't like Star Wars.   Halo was not based on Star wars in the first place but on Aliens and considering I enjoyed that one more..

I don't disagree about your analysis about Halo 4 not being much like Star Wars. I do however disagree that Halo has "nowhere near the depth".

If you read the books you would realize just how horribly wrong you are. The only reason why I would say Star Wars has more depth right now is simply because it's been out longer and has soooo many books and movies and games made for it. It has the quantity thing going for it.

Yeah Halo is deep, very deep, their is so much to tell about the other spartans think for example my favourite Kelly <3..     but it is almost impossible to not think about Star wars at some moments playing Halo 4.

Is this a good thing?

All I have to say to this is Starship Troopers with a deeper universe and alien life.

Well, the thread title is misleading, but honestly this seem like a non-story.

I don't think Star Wars and Halo have a whole lot in common. Halo has more in common with a sci-fi action movie like Aliens, and less in common with a sword-and-sorcery epic like Star Wars. But I think the 343 rep was just talking about expanding the franchise.

Couldn't agree more. I think they just want the universe to expand beyond what we already seen.
