"OMG he didn't". Yes I did, for the lulz and to increase the sales talk VGC was and is still known for.

VGC data:
Current total:
PS Vita - 3,181,202 (not quite one year old)
Kinect - 17,099,066 (just had it's 2nd birthday)

2012 sales (so far):
PS Vita - 2,699,629
Kinect - 2,021,399

Official shipment data:

Kinect - 20m (as of November)
PS Vita - 2.2m (as of July)

AFAIK Sony didn't specify Vita shipments in their latest quarterly report.

Given Vita's trajectory, I'm not sure that's a particularly bold claim--there are people on here that have already stated that the Vita won't make 15-million, let alone 17+.

Bold indeed.

If the Vita survives, it should be around for 5 years. It can pull off 30m+ sales. That's being optimistic.

By Kinect, I hope you mean only the 360 Kinect (not including Kinect 2.0 for XBox720) so it's up for debate when M$ will stop Kinect 1.0

Gaming on: PS4 Pro, Switch, SNES Mini, Wii U, PC (i5-7400, GTX 1060)

Entirely depends on the future of the Kinect. If Vita lives for another 5 years while Kinect ends with the launch of the 720, then no way. Vita, like the PSP, will see much stronger sales in Japan near the end of its life-cycle.

If, however, the Kinect lives on after the release of the 720, then it's a different game entirely. I don't know what will happen there, though some people think a Kinect 2.0 will come or the 720 will have Kinect technology integrated inside.

Without that knowledge this is really just a guessing game.

If the Kinect does end with the release of the 720, I'm going to go ahead and say that it will be virtually dead after spiking for the holidays, not unless they have something big coming out--which is possible, I'll admit, as I don't keep up with Kinect game news at all.

With the rise of the Vita in the West, and downfall of the 3DS in the west I think you may be wrong. Plus it is about to get free games I hear? The vita is one fancy piece of equipment. All it needs is that one game to all of a sudden make it explode. As long as Sony can keep it going through this Christmas ( chould be no problem) and on to next Christmas there will be a big change in the wind. Vita will rise. Just will take a while. Took the 3DS a while as well.

i'm sorry, facts show a different history.

Uhh... Did you see the October NPD #'s? The Vita sold a measly 35K that month. The 3DS sold around 200K and the DS 100K. Heck Even the Wii outsold the Vita!

While it's true that the 3DS sales are down from last year, it's factually untrue that the Vita is rising in the west.

It seems very likely at this point unless they do a dramatic price drop and begin to lose money on every unit sold. All I know is people are putting to much faith in COD to drag Vita from the depths and into glory, which is kind of funny considering it is one of the most trolled franchise's in history (just look at meta) but it suddenly becomes the savior all things when it's almost essential to resurrect a failing handheld.

And yes only the standard Kinect as we know it.

Umm, what rise of the Vita and fall of the 3DS in the West? The 3DS is currently selling 4 times as many consoles per week than the Vita in the West.
