I really enjoyed it. And it had promise for a being a great franchise. 1.5 million in sales should have made the game profitable, but I suppose too many games were bundled or sold at cut rate price.

Narika shouldn't be in PABR because she was a one hit wonder, unless they plan to bring her back. I would buy a HS2, and I think the kick arse female H&S genre should not be populated solely by Bayonetta, as awesome as she is. In fact now that she's lost to PS3 that's even more reason to bring Narika back.

Sly and Narika will probably be my mainstays in PABR.

Good for you. Maybe that will help you to remember her name.

Oops.

I like HS, its not a long game though.

Been playing a couple of hours. Im Kai atm, trying to get the Heavenly Sword back to Nariko whose fighting for her life in some arena.

Its a really fun game. Recommend it, truly. The archering stuff with Kai is really epic xD. I shoot the same body several times and watch them fall in slow-mo. Feels like that 300 scene when Leonidas and his spartans are pierced :-p

So far a solid 8/10

EDIT: LOL I just found the sword, its in a trophy room with many other weapons. One of the weapons is REALLY similar Kratos' Blades of Athena. I swear to god its like identical XD

Beat the game!

I did really enjoy the characters and the story. The whole heaven / hell stuff was pretty cool. With that said, my biggest gripes were the fact that its a 2007 title and felt like... it needed to be polished. There were moments where the game pushed like 1000 people on the screen and the framerate obviously takes a hit for that. Halfway in, it also starts to annoy you because they throw soo many enemies at you and you just find yourself being frustraighted. Also was a bit shocked over the ending. Decent game!

Were Santa Monica to get their hands on a Heavenly Sword reboot or something, I'd be there day 1 XD.

6/10

How many attempts did it take you to beat the last boss?

It's a very average game.

Heavenly Sword is a strong 8.9 in my book, it is inches from greatness.

+Story: King Bohan will seriously force you to loathe him and respect him at the same time due to his sadistic humour. He is played by Andy Serkis from Lord of the Rings/King Kong fame. Nariko is not your "A-typical heroine which I love about her. She is a strong spirit, a bit of an anger issue, and god like combat skills. The story is subtle yet strong at the same time, and will be the one thing you remember most from the game.

+Combat is great. There are litterally dozens of possible combos and moves. There are basically 2 different play modes. One is with Nariko and the other with her Sister, Kai. Nariko uses the Heavenly Sword's 3 distinct fighting styles while Kai uses her crossbow for long range. Periodically you will be told to pick up a cannon and take down armies from a vantage point. Anytime you use a projectile in this game u will b given the option of Aftertouch(ability to direct the projectiles where u want).Nariko blends her Strength, Agility, and Range attacks with ease. That is why the game's tagline "Death has never been so beautiful..." is so fitting. The game has a really strong countering mechanic that usually leads to some devestating moves.

_Which leads me to one of the cons. One of the issues many people have is that the enemies always surround you and wait for YOU to attack first. You can litterally wait upwards 30 seconds before one will even attempt to attack you. Precision is heavily emphasized, so its always in the benefit to let them strike u first, then go for the counter.

-Not much as far as collectibles or side missions. The game is pretty straight forward.

-The game is Arena style. You almost exclusively go from one arena to the next. This is typical of action games, yet its more apparent here with HS's short length.

-My pet peeve is that the game is literally only about 6hrs long with nothing to truly keep you playing other than a Hard difficulty.

+The Characters are great. Roach, Whiptail, Fly Fox, and King Bohan are star characters, with great personalities that make you want to tear their head off. Nariko becomes very relate-able in her personal plight. Its a story of her having to overcome oppression, and all though she was unwanted she has to be the hero they needed. Kai is a ball of fun.

My Verdict says buy it if its for a really cheap price. Everyone should at least experience such a touching story. Ninja Theory was a FOOL to abandon it and I find it funny it is still their best performing game.

About 4-5. Spamming triangle and roll did the trick XD. Luckily I knew how to shoot back the projectiles due to the boss before it. But for THAT one, oh god, like 15 tries XD (talking about the dude that like copies himself)

FYI, those WERE the blades of Athena. It was a little inside joke between them, knowing how similar the weapons were. I guess King Bohan was able to conquer Kratos as well.... 0_o?!

Game did have framerate issues. People always compained of them but I rarely had that problem.

I just loved the story. The subtle implications that the "Heavenly Warrior" was not as saintly as his name implies, rather he was a sadist who enjoyed being fauned over by those weaker than him, and watching them struggle in their own ignorance. I also love how the God had to recognize Nariko's words in the end, that he needed her as much as she needed him. If he was to continue being the "Legend" he wanted he needed to use her as an example of his power.

I really hope a sequel gets made for PS4. Oh, and you should really watch this as well...
