39000 no way. On 360 at morning is 120k or more at night 400k or more. when Elite maps came out there was somedays with 900k.
Okay I may differ from other numbers but when I was playing yesterday at 9 pm Stockholm time which should mean 4 pm EST USA time the online player count was 412000. I know this is huge because I remember reach having 310000 at the same time at its first friday.
I woke up 4 am just to see how that had changed and the number was well over 900000 so I would say that this is pretty big.
I remember back in 2007 when Halo 3 stats was shown on Bungie.net the numbers there showed:
Amount of Players online right now - this one was around 400000 on fridays
Amount of Players online (24h) - This one was Always over 1,5m on fridays
Amount of Played games - or something like that

Depends on time. Checking again it says 73,289.

No way dude. Where did you get those numbers from? Because the max I have seen is almost 400k and I've been on in the majority of the peak time since it's release.

I really can't stress how amazing I find this game to be.
Also I found out today that my KD spread is 2.4 which kind of surprised me but once they add the Snipers playlist and I start playing that it will drop like a rock lol.

No way was there 1.1m playing Halo 4 multiplayer at one time, and no way was there only 39k playing PS3 MW3
My prediction threads:

Haha, just checked mine out a few minutes ago, currently at 3.04 after 3 games, (1 loss, 2 wins, lost the 1 game where I got put into a team mid-game), so not doing to bad so far, but not sure if I can keep it above 3 forever though. 
Kinda dissapointed that Waypoint refuses to update my Campaign (Which I did offline), so Waypoint tells people I haven't played the SP, but my achievs disagree.
Too be honest, 1.1M concurrent users globally at peak times in it's first week wouldn't suprise me, I have literally not seen anyone else playing anything but Halo 4 on my friends list or my friends friends list, never seen such a thing before, not even with MW3.
Up for a few games tonight? Don't have a mic, but we can make do. ^^

I could see the 1.1M for all modes but not just the Wargames.
3.04 is indeed beast. I believe after my first 3 games I had a 1.3 or something like that (partly getting used to the game and mostly due to playing against a lot of the most hardcore Halo MP players in the game right after the midnight launch.
Unfortunately I can't cause I gotta do some homework and go to bed. I can definitely play tomorrow (in 12-20 hours) though.

Yeah all modes is what I meant, just War Games would mean that people outright quit their job and dedicated their life to Halo, possible, thought not likely. :P
Heh, fortunately I haven't really encountered any hardcore Halo MP players yet (Unfortunately, also not in Spartan Ops, I want to fecking complete the missions on Legendary but everyone is doing heroic :/)
I'll try to be on when you get online again, otherwise we'll nab a few next weekend.
