Forums - Gaming Discussion - I don't even know who half the characters are in Playstation All-Stars.

That is okay because half of Vgchartz is wondering who you are!

I think so. You should gradually get used to this.

So this thread is filled with Nintendo guys arguing against the roster. Sorry to burst your bubbles but no one cares.

(...)

Now you know how Nintendo fans felt about your and ryuzaki's thread.

Although... we [Nintendo guys] aren't really arguing in this thread. It's a weezy thread and we know the drill.

You don't understand that both me and ryuzaki actually care about the wii u, we want it to be good. Are any of you guys actually planning on getting this game? No, you are just arguing Smash's roster is better.

I'm only posting here because it seems like an important event in recent VGChartz history.

But really, as long as I can play as PaRappa the Rapper, I'm down with it.

If you refer to Pikachu as Pokemon "crap" you clearly had a depressing childhood or are still a child in the awkward stage of becoming a young adult where you hate everything you ever associated yourself with in your early life. Criticize modern pokemon as much as you want, but classic pokemon is exactly that, a classic and one of japan's few national treasures.

Isn't that why they are releasing the game in the first place?

I learned about Samus, Fox and Captain Falcon from the first Super Smash game (still don't really know a lot about Kirby and Ness), so I found it interesting and (eventually) rewarding to see these new characters and later start testing the games that they are found in.

Not knowing about all the characters from start makes it a lot more fun, as I see it.

Well that's because you are not a playstation fan,i only know mario, link and samus from super smash.

Haha, nice try, but that's impossible. If you know Mario, you know Luigi and Peach too. If you know Link, you know Zelda too. And I'm sure you know Pokémon and Donkey Kong. Lol.

See, Nintendo cheat by using multiple characters per franchise.

Now, let's take a look at the Brawl roster:

Marth?? Mr. Game & Watch?? Pit?? MetaKnight?? Falco?? Ike?? Ice Climbers?? King Dedede?? Wolf?? Lucario?? Ness?? R.O.B.?? Olimar?? Captain Falcon?? Lucas??

I know some of the ones I mentioned now and the games they are in, but many of them were basically unknown outside of the Nintendo community.

I agree with you, but what's the problem? I quoted 7 or 8 characters that everyone here probably knows (Mario, Luigi, Peach, Zelda, Link, Donkey Kong, Pokémon Trainer, Pikachu). If a franchise has several famous characters, it is worth it. If Sony put only 1 character per franchise, is because it has few memorable characters per franchise.

We need moar Zelda, now!

We need moar Unchartedzz!

We need less DLCs.

I had never heard about: Captain Falcon, Fox, Ness out of the ones you mentioned until I played/saw Super Smash.

Also, it's not hard to see why non-Sony gamers don't recognize the entire roster...

So you still knew 9 out of 12. That's not too bad.

And yeah, it's not hard to see why. Even Sony gamers don't recognize a good chunk of the roster.

The very fact that they only had 12 characters should say enough. So essentially that would mean Playstation All Stars has more recognizable characters than the first smash if we go by the OP's definition of 10/20 being recognizable. Why did anyone bother with it?

Let's see:

Big Daddy BioShock  (I know)

Cole MacGrath inFAMOUS (I know)

Colonel Radec Killzone (Don't know)

Dante Devil May Cry (I know/ third-party)

Evil Cole MacGrath inFAMOUS (Clone Character)

Fat Princess Fat Princess (Dafuq?)

Heihachi Mishima Tekken (I know/ third-party)

Jak and Daxter Jak and Daxter (Don't know)

Kratos God of War (I know)

Nariko Heavenly Sword (Don't Know)

Nathan Drake Uncharted (I know)

Parappa PaRappa the Rapper (Dafuq?)

Raiden Metal Gear (I know/ third-party)

Ratchet and Clank Ratchet & Clank (know a little)

Sackboy LittleBigPlanet (I know)

Sir Daniel Fortesque MediEvil (Dafuq?)

Sly Cooper Sly Cooper (I know)

Spike Ape Escape (Dafuq?)

Sweet Tooth Twisted Metal (Don't Know)

Toro Inoue Together Everywhere! (Dafuq?)

So, I have the PS2 and the PS3, and I don't know half of the roster. I only know 9 of 20 characters, and 3 of them are third-party. You can't argue with that, because a lot of these "unknown" characters are from new franchises and none of them have sold a big amount.

On the other hand, the characters from Mario Bros., Zelda and Pokémon, are from franchises that have been around for decades and have sold large quantities.

We need moar Zelda, now!

We need moar Unchartedzz!

We need less DLCs.

If you were a character in the game, weezy, I'd buy it in an instant.

No, it's because they're reserving some characters for DLC. Hopefully Zeus, Sully and Snake at least.

Metal Gear is not a Sony franchise. Snake was in SSBB. I know Sully, but I'm sure not everyone knows he. Moreover, we do not know which characters will come from DLCs.
