Do you pirate?

Never, It's a disgusting practice.
Sometimes, to try a game.
Often, I only buy when I really like the franchise.
I'm Jack Sparrow, I wonder what a game case looks like.

Simple question. If you do or you have done so, why?

I must admit I pirated when I was a teen. I lived in Spain which is basically the caribbean of SW pirates, it's socially acceptable and most of my friends did it. I was poor as fuck and needed months to save for a game so I pirated my PS2. I used to rent games and simply make a copy and return them on the day...

I'm not proud of this, but at the time it was either that or nothing TBH, so the companies didn't lose my money and I got into gaming and I spend quite some money on it today. Games I realy liked like GTA I bought original after saving for a long time.

Now I would never pirate though, I'd feel guilty and it's just so much better having the real thing. So I don't condone it.

What about you?

Not for me. I suppose I'm as much a collector as I am a player, so I like having a collection of the genuine articles. Something I can pass down, you know?

Plus, I don't want to contribute to a very real problem in the industry.

P.S. Thanks for this thread Troll_Whisperer, and thanks for being honest :)

All the time and no guilt at all.

Now bring on the rum.

No I dont and never really have.

My main question to pirates is doesnt it take a lot of time to do? I mean maybe it doesnt idk exactly how it works but it seems like it would be difficult always looking up the stuff to download, figuring out whats real or fake, and then getting it to work

PC Specs - 2x Geforce GTX EVGA OC 780ti, 16 GB Crucial Ballistix Elite 1866 RAM, i7 4770k CPU

I've pirated a few things myself, mainly my music software. I can't exactly afford them since they are so expensive, but if I ever make money off my music I'll probably buy the legit versions one day.

I don't know why people tell me to get a life. I'm a gamer, I have lots of lives!

I used  a lot for my wii and psp I wont ever again though. And nope it doesnt take much time. theres a lot of sites that have stuff categorized very well as long s you know a few basic things its not hard to navigate.

Let's see...

I earn 1000 euros month
PS3 game costs 70 euro....

What do you do?

Sort of.

I've pirated Kotor 2... but I bought it twice, I just broke the disc twice.
I pirated Mass Effect... But, I lost my CD after I bought it.
I got the deus ex: human revolution preview build leak... and bought the full version,... twice :P.

I've downloaded a lot of NES, SNES, Gameboy games, for my Jailbroke PSP, and computer.
But I've bought a lot of those.

I don't steal music. Or games that I haven't already bought and had an issue breaking with it. Except, old old ones.

I'm from South America and its pretty much pirate island over here so I pirated the hell out of the PS1 and PS2 but in my poor defense I was a broke high school student who didn't know any better.

Now I don't pirate games at all since I can afford them but I do re sell all the games I finish, I don't care about having a collection.

So far 68.75% voted that they at least pirate sometimes, with 50% pirating often or always. Higher numbers than I thought. I guess it's too expensive a hobby for a good chunk of the world population.
