Best looking 360 game for sure but overall? Don't think so, yet to play the game though. Will buy when I have enough euros to get Gold for a few months/year.

If you haven't played it then why did you give it a review of 0/10 on metacritic? I don't think you've actually answered this yet and I want to know why you did it.

No, I stand by what I said. Its a personal preference. when I look at the best looking PC games; Crysis, Battlefield, Witcher 2 I can honestly say that I find Halo 4 more stunning. The same way I would say Mario Galaxy trumps many HD platformers in the visuals department.

It really isn't a personal preference when you make a bold claim like that. There are PC games that no console game can match, which truly isn't up for debate.

You can have your opinions, but it doesn't change anything.

"Now I think of it, I don't think I've sen any PC games which I would say look as good".. Emphasis on the "I", of course its personal opinion. We are talking about something looking "good" not realistic. I'm not counting polygons here, I'm simply conveying the impression the visuals left on me. What would you say is the best looking PC game released thus far?

When you say the best LOOKING game, people are going to talk about what is visually most appealing, realistic or otherwise. Halo 4 shouldn't even be put in a situation like that, let it shine on its own without having to compete with the likes of PC.

As far the best looking games from me, when you can mod, it changes the game. Crysis 1 & Crysis 2, Hard Reset, & Skyrim all modded destroy what I've seen from consoles, and hardly anyone ever disagrees. And in Vanilla, their console counterparts are still no match. Couple that with the fact that consoles can barely pump out 30fps @ 720p half the time, while PC's constantly can run many games @ 60-120fps+ in 1080p and that is why people are arguing with you.

Whats your take on the open - linear though?

Take GTA4 for instance. It does way more than Halo 4. Should it be crowned best looking game of this generation?

Can you even compare GTA4 and Halo 4 technically? Maybe one is qualified enough to do so but that still does not change the fact that Halo 4 looks better than GTA4 on consoles pure visually.

Now flip this and compare it to the games that are even more linear =>

Then it becomes rather apparant that Halo 4's texture quality for one is not as good as the linear games: God of War 3, UC3/UC2, Gears of War 3 etc.

So can it be the best looking game on consoles when it simply ...isnt the best looking?

Just want your thoughts on it.

Maybe it was to counter the guys that give 10/10 and havent played the game yet. Both sides exist haha.

I looked at a few screens and didn't think much of it. After looking at more on Eurogamer though, I thought the lighting was absolutely stunning in some shots. The game has a very clean look. Not sure if it's the best looking game on consoles, I'll have to play it first before I decide that, from what I've seen I don't think it is though.

I watched the IGN review, yesterday and I thought to myself, "Yeah, it looks okay.  Nothing to complain about." but when I finally played it, I was actually surprised how good it looked.  I'd say that playing is believing, in this case.  I still haven't played enough to give a detailed opinion and it looks like that probably won't happen until late tonight, if at all.  I think you'll like it, though.

Some games do look a lot better in motion, screenshots don't always do justice.

I wouldn't be so sure that I would like it.
I've been very weary of Halo games, I tried the Reach demo and I didn't like it at all, but when I played a few games online and one level at my Uncle's I had a blast. I've been thinking about buying the game since then, but that demo left such a bad taste in my mouth. I've been asking people where they think I should start. If the new Halo trilogy from 4 onwards is starting a new arc in the story, then I might buy Reach and then do a "Star Wars", playing the newer games first and then revisiting 1-3 if I have the time.

That doesn't make it any less strange.

It's kinda amazing that you could say that original Crysis with mods is till the best looking game out there and it came out in 2007! Game really was ahead of its time (there was no PC that could run it maxed when it was released). As for Halo 4 it does look really good but God of War III is still the best looking console game for me. Dat first scene with gaia. Never have been more amazed by graphics.

GTA4 came out in 2008 and with a certain mod, it will look insane to the point of real life realism lol. Its just the power of the PC.

Oh yeah no, i wasnt implying that. Im just saying there are a lot of strange people out there. I like giving 10's and 0's here on VGC at times, although I think my last was like 2 years ago or so.

Ive played KZ3, Uncharted 1-3, GOW 3, all the Gears of War games, Witcher 2, Crysis 2, and all the Forza games and can prove it.

And Halo 4 is the best looking of the bunch. Many reviews state that as well. Prior to this game I wouldve argued KZ3 and GOW 3 had the most stunning moments but Halo 4 truly is the current console King

Hmmm...well, I would give Halo 4 major props as top console FPS, because the lighting is truly something else. Better than I ever thought the 360 would achieve.

But for consoles overall, I still say God of War III has a commanding lead. I went back and played it this weekend and realized whi Praised it in 2010. It may have been linear, it may have fixed camera, but its texture detail, lack of aliasing, and scale are unlike anyting I've ever seen in a console title (and the lighting still comeptes with current day games). I know you are for Uncharted 3, which is the second best I've seen on home consoles, but God of War III is closer to PC titles than most console games based on that (also variable 30-60fps as 720p).

I see thanks :}
