Me and a few friends are going to my local gaming store for the Halo 4 midnight opening on Monday night/Tuesday morning, and I was wondering what they're like. Has anyone here ever been to one? If so, share your experience.

Not been to a game launch at midnight but i got my ps3 during a midnight release. Queued for ages in the freezing cold.. wasnt a pleasant experience. happy i got my ps3 though because they were sold out for quite a while after i remember.

yeah, all COD games MW2 and up, Halo Reach, BF3, Dark Souls(yes, they actually had a midnight release) Resident Evil 5.

I tagged along with my boyfriend to the midnight releases of Gears of War 3 and Modern Warfare 3. It was terrible. So, so boring. Cold, too. I will not be doing it again.

SSBB midnight launch is the only one I ever did. Got awkward when the Sonic fanboy showed up. Had the voice of a 12 year old too.

Probably the only reason he bought the game.

My take on this: Round up all those people in line, press each one a shovel into the hands and send them to NY/NJ beachline to help clean up. These people have way too much time, apparently.

Come to think of it: Round up all those marathon runners now in NY and perform likewise..

Nothing like that but during the 'pre-' and 'early' internet days i purchased some concert-tickets by camping a night at the postoffice.
Most awesome nights ever, no sleep and attaining a ticket that was really rare compared to the iphone or Halo ;P

I went to starcarft 2.

That was the nerdiest/fattest (90% of the people were like 300 lbs!),  conglomeration of people I've ever seen.
I'm never going again. 

Final Fantasy XII...it was quite uneventful.

Went to the Midnight Release of:

Games: FFVII, FFIX, FFX, FFXII, FFXIII, World of Warcraft, World of Warcraft Burning Crusade and World of Warcraft: WoLK.

Consoles: PS3, Xbox360, PS2 and PS1

Biggest was easily World of Warcraft: Burning Crusade. Was 300+ people strong. We were in Charlotte NC by the University (UNC Charlotte) with the line wrapping twice around the entire parking lot. Gamestop ordered Pizza (we were next to the PapaJohns who had SHUTDOWN for the night to just make us pizza) and the Monster Energy guys were giving out MASSIVE amounts of Energy Drinks. They were doing many giveaways (free shirts, posters, Cardboard Cut outs for games, etc).

Was pretty awesome. It took a few hours to get through all the people as they only allowed 4 in the store at a time, allowing the people to take no more than 10 minutes. There were probably 12 police cars on site during the event (very peaceful).  My buddy and I arrived at 9:30 and we were 12th in line.
