Fanboy article is fanboyish. Loved the part about the lackluster launch lineup.

nintendo fanboy detected.
Nintendo hasn't been about gamers since N64 and they probably won't be with the wiiu /thread.

So because launch games don't push the envolope in graphical power, they are not "hardcore" enough? (lest we forget how Xbox 360's launch games looked)  Lol Whoever wrote that article is an idiot. This looks like one of the best launch lineups of all time. Even if you don't like Nintendo you cannot deny this. I mean come on: NSMB, Black Ops 2, Batman Arkham City, Ninja Gaiden 3, Epic Mickey 2, Scribblenauts, ZombiU, Assassin's Creed 3, Just Dance 4? Whether you like these titles or not, you simply can't deny the diversity of the lineup, the quality, and popularity of many of these games.

See this is why I can't take the self proclaimed "hardcore" too seriously. They put WAY to much stock in graphics and horsepower. They seem to care more about graphics and epic cutscenes than the actualy GAMEPLAY. And then they call themselves hardcore GAMERS?

Knock the so called casualz all you want, but at least they enjoy games for what they are, GAMES. Not for technical prowess or cinematic features.

Region lock has been a standard that every platform holder but Sony has followed, and even Sony only deviated with their most recent console, the PS3.

The launch window includes hardcore games, and games that were considered hardcore not too long ago, including 2D platformers like New Super Mario U and Rayman Origins, the horror game ZombiU which mixes first person horror with a roguelike experience, an improved much more difficult version of Ninja Gaiden 3 PUBLISHED by Nintendo, the game hardcore gamers have been demanding for years Pikmin 3, and a game from triple A hardcore game developer The Wonderful 101. Again, published by Nintendo.

Buying headsets is, again, nothing new. You have to buy a headset for PS3. You have to buy a headset for Xbox 360. For PS3 you can't even plug your headset into a controller, you need to either plug it into the PS3 or buy a wireless one. The mic was added for game play functions, and Nintendo clearly want to reserve it for such.

Digital games are not expected to be 25 gigs in size. This is only the maximum size of the retail games, which you don't need a big hard drive to buy. 32 gigs is plenty of space for the typical digital games, and unlike the Xbox 360, you are not bound to first party hard drives. Because Nintendo lets you buy your own hard drive, you can buy a one terabyte drive for a fairly affordable price. Was not including a larger storage solution a mistake for Nintendo? Yes, but that doesn't mean they don't care about the hardcore gamer.

This is a pretty piss poor article and reads like something to come out of a message board fanboy, not a website.

Region lock is no big deal. Honestly, how many people import games from Japan or other regions anyway? 95% of consoles going all the way back to the NES have been region locked or designed in such a way that games are incompatible with consoles from other regions and vice-versa. Hell, even DVD/Blu-Ray players still do this... how come nobody complains about them?

And I LOL'd when the author started bashing Wii U's launch lineup when it's the best launch lineup any console has seen since maybe the Dreamcast.

Storage is a non-issue as well. How many "hardcore gamers" are still rocking their 20GB PS360s these days? Oh that's right, they all went and upgraded their HDDs, usually at the cost of over $100 for a decent sized drive in addition to the $400 or more they initially spent on their console. Now you can get an external USB HDD for like $50-$60 that has way more storage than any of the PS360 SKUs do. Yeah the game discs are up to 25GB, but so far there's no word on mandatory installs like PS3 has, or the need to install bonus / additional content like you do on many 360 games. 8-32GB is plenty of storage for saves and VC/WiiWare titles, but the option is always there to expand that as much as you want with dirt-cheap SD cards or USB HDDs.

Bottom line is if you're spending so much money on DLC that 32GB is nowhere near enough for you, then spending a few extra bucks on additional storage should be no biggie either... especially since you've most likely already done it before if you're a PS360 gamer.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

Not everyone is keen on playing some imported game. We are not all anime freaks who worship everything Japanese.

And what about the rest of the world? I bought the Korean version of Borderlands, Blur and Singularity dirt cheap and also have the British version of Bayonetta and Vanquish. I bought them from ebay because I live in Soth America (Amazon does not ship to South America) and prices here are insanely high and I also bought them from whatever country has the lowest price and thats usually Korea and UK but I also have games from Greece, Australia and Japan.

Demon's Souls and RE5 are identical to the NTSC American version (voices and subtitles in english) but they were way cheaper from Japan.

the only correct words in the title are that, Nintendo, is, about, the and gamers

That article is just bad, the 360 and the next xbox will be region locked, yet people think it's so hcorez! Nintendo doesn't care about the core audience yet they are paying to revamp the combat in NG3 and reviving Bayonetta. They don't care about online/digital presence yet the Unity Engine support will be there for all current license holders and their dev kits for indie games which are all DD.

Dumb articles are dumb articles I guess.

It is in the eye of the beholder. I am one of those who see the lineup lackluster at best. There is only few games which I would be interested in.

Assassins creed 3

Black ops 2

And then few games I already own.  I don't know much about wii u:s online system, but I am willing to bet that there won't be as many gamers as on 360 or pc. Assassins creed might be a reason to get the console, but then again, it is available on pc/360. Tekken might be interesting too, but that is also available on other platforms. Other than those games, there is nothing for me.
