Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Now that We Know the Price of Surface RT Version........ What about Pro?

Now that we know the pricing MS is going with on the RT Version, what do think their going to price it at? and if your predicting price is high, because you think they will price it high. Then what do u think should be a resonable price for the Pro Version

So Provide Two Pricings if Necessary: One for Their Pricing and The other at what you would price it at. Or just one if you think their pricing is gonna be reasonable for you that would be comfortable buying it at said price if you wanted one.

My Interest in the Surface Pro, and wanted to See what the VG community would think the pricing is gonna be, because we have alot of knowledgeable people on this site :P

My guess is that the Surface Pro will be $899 for the model with the 64GB (w/o keyboard) and $999 for the 128GB model (w/o keybord). So then need to add $119 for touch keeyboard or $129 for type keyboard.

would you buy it at that price?

I see the following:

$799 - i3 64GB
$899 - i5 64GB
$999 - i5 128 GB

I'd buy an i3 model at that price. I'd actually consider an Atom based model if they make one too. Been using Acer W500 running Win8 preview for a while which is running a paltry AMD C50. Runs perfectly fine and does what I need it to do (word, excel, email, VPN stuff).

The prices for the Surface make me unhappy. Might end up not getting one after all.

The Pro is aimed at savvy business men, not the average joe.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Thats not entirely true. Pro is a laptop replacement while the RT is primarily a content consumption device.

I wouldn't say that laptops are only for savy businessmen...

I honestly don't see the point of getting the RT anymore.

Acer W510 Windows 8 tablet costs $499, comes with a decent Atom X86 CPU, is 1.32 lbs and is as thin as any ARM tablet out there. On top of that is supposedly lasts 9 hours (18 with a keyboard dock). Even if that's 7 hours of normal usage, that's really good.

If an X86 tablet can offer all that, why would anyone get the ARM based RT device?

Probably...I am leaning toward the 128GB Surface Pro with type keyboard which I am hoping is around $1100. I am looking to replace my laptop (i travel with and use for work) and I am specifcally waiting on the Surface Pro...which seems similar to the Sony DUO (~$1100), but the Sony DUO is a slider with an attached keyboard (which I dont want).

huh?  the current ones are better than ipads for less. lol

the pro is very very powerful and will be expensive.

I was under the impression that the W8 RT tablets were the same price as iPads.

I want the pro version...but it's just so much money (and the keyboard is extra from what I'm gathering). I guess I was just hoping for slightly cheaper prices.
