Retro Studios used to be located at 1835A Kramer Lane, Suite 100 in Austin, Texas.

At one point or another, Retro moved to 12345 North Lamar Boulevard, Austin, TX.

There’s no question that the move happened. Retro’s own Facebook page confirms the new location.

So why is this even remotely important? Well, it looks like the new building is bigger than the old one. Perhaps Retro Studios is/was looking to expand?

Because we are entering a new generation there will be more "retro" games. (GC will finally be 100% retro because its 2 generations behind now and Wii will start to become retro too)

The more retro there is the more space is needed ;)


 Retro Studios having more space now shows us that they are more important than ever have more money than ever and will have a bigger team than ever! (moving costs money, bigger offices cost money etc)

Not sure If i fully understood what you meant or if you are not sure who Retro Studio are.

Retro Studio is not a studio that develops or works on Retro games, they are sorta Nintendo's of Naughty Dog for here in the west. They are the ones who developped the Metroid Prime trilogy and Donkey Kong returns.

Ties in with the other news about Nintendo expanding capacity. Maybe they are finally taking a hint and bulking up their internal development capabilities to fill the inevitable droughts.

and btw.  they sorta alter/re-imagine oldschool/retro nintendo games :) with awesome results!   and I feel somehow hurt that you compared Naughty Dog to Retro Studios ;)

Looks nice. Could be they're expanding because developing HD games tend to require more resources, maybe they're expanding so they can increase their output. Maybe both.

Didn't they hire a bunch of people last year?
