Forums - Sales Discussion - who is going to win this holiday? the Wii or the Vita?

who will win?

Wii 189 70.00%

Vita 81 30.00%

Total:270

since my other thread got locked by axumblade because of the topic headline I was allowed to create another one that will hopefully last until next year where I can bump it back up to see how right/wrong we were.

Kenology pointed out what time I mean so let it start from black Friday until mid January which should cover the big holiday periods we have around the world

I only put Vita against the Wii since it was the fairest comparison since they both sell about the same every week. So who will win this holiday in your opinion?

personally I think it is going to be very close and who ever comes on top will only beat the other by a small margin

    R.I.P Mr Iwata :'(

I'll have to say vita, only because the wii u will be out.

I'll pick the one with an actual holiday lineup other than multiplats.

Love and tolerate.

The Wii will be dropped to $99. So it will win.

I am Mario.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

Didn't want to post a whole different post for this so thought I'd add it here:

I'm a Vita owner and I have to say that it's an awesome system. It doesn't make a lot of mistakes. It may actually be perfect. I'm willing to bet that my collection of Vita software (especially if you include PSP titles) is amongst the highest of anybody on this site. The Vita actually deserves to do well this holiday season.

Unfortunately, the Vita still doesn't have any sort of buzz. It's still expensive. It will have some must-play software in the form of Assassin's Creed and Call of Duty but I (regrettably) feel that it will not do much to increase the Vita's station. I always hate to see a company give consumers a good product and to see that product be ignored but that's what I suspect will happen with the Vita this Christmas.

Meanwhile (as I stated in the other thread), the Wii is going to be priced lower than dirt. It will be low enough to qualify as an impulse buy. Hell, I may get another Wii just to use as a Netflix box in one of my other bedrooms.

The Wii is going to win out over the Vita. If it's lucky, the only consoles the Vita will beat will be the PSP and the original DS and even then, I'm not sure. A bold statement? Possibly. We'll try to bump THIS thread in January since the other thread got locked.

I expect Sony to advertise the Vita and its own Call of Duty title a lot during these holidays, so I'll say Vita. Even if Nintendo cut the price of the Wii it will still lack software and be completely outshined by the Wii U. Not to mention that Wii is possibly near stagnation through its potential market.

Not sure why the last thread was locked... but given the time frame in the OP, I'm still going to pick the Vita.

It has a few releases that should do well in the West in CoD (even if it looks like it'll be bad), AssCreed, and LBP. So, it *SHOULD* do better than the Wii, though I do think the Wii might put up better than expected numbers. I don't expect the Vita to outsell the Wii by much though, and I can totally see the Wii doing better if those games are ignored in favor of their console brethren.

So all in all, it's a toss up, but I'm leaning toward Vita.

Wildcard:  A $99 dollar Wii.  O_o

Vita.

With that time frame in mind, I think the wii will win. Wii will have very good deals, vita will still be expensive. The vita only has one major release in that time frame, and that is call of duty (which I think will still do horribly).

The wii currently has a 50% drop in sales year round, and I think that will hold up. The wii sold roughly 500k a week until mid jan (about 3.6m). So split in half we have around 1.8m Wii (probably will be more) vs w/e vita does. Just don't think vita can do that without more software.
