Forums - Politics Discussion - Who won the debate? Romney or Obama?

Who won the debate?

President Barack Obama 220 34.65%

Governor Mitt Romney 265 41.73%

Nobody 141 22.20%

Total:626

So who do you think won the debate?  What moments were good?  Did it change your opinion?

I can see the future

Hmmmmm

Mmmmmmm

Wasn't me that's for sure.

Hopefully it'll be better than this. (Tagging)

obama is killing.

I'll be shocked if Romney wins. Really best case scenario is a Bush v Kerry result. (or was it Bush v gore?) Where Bush fucked up the first one so bad people kept saying he won the second and third debates even though he sucked in those two. (Or was that the other way around?)

I think Romney may surprise during the debates. Although Obama is eloquent, I think he can be pulled off of his game.. But that assumes Romney wants to actually debate Obama, and not go for canned speeches.

If I were Romney, I would press Obama on every aspect of the economy - the lack of jobs from the stimulus, the anemic growth of the private sector, the lack of capital investment that points to a lack of faith in the economy. When Obama tries to argue Republican obstructionism, then Romney should counter with his record of reaching across the aisle to achieve results - something that Obama has done none of, and even Clinton and Bush managed to do during their tenures as president.

But that assumes that Romney is remotely intelligent. I hated him during the primary debates, because he never really was great, but never had a gaffe. The Ryan-Biden debates (whenever they are, if they happen) would be much better.

And if Gary Johnson was there.... He'd tear both of them apart.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Here in Europe all we here is "Obama is better, Romney is bad, Romney is really bad..."
So by default Romney will win by basically saying nothing. And everybody will jump on "he didn't flounder.. so he won". Simple tactics obviously but given the short attention span of Americans, that is all there is in this debate.

I believe there is one debate set up.  I don't think it will be better.

I think it will be even more onesided then Obama vs Romney will end up. (due to romney and canned speaches etc.)

Essentially a win for Joe Biden in the VP debates would be him not having a gaping gaffe that sinks Obama's vote by 5%.

Only way it'd end up being an even contest i can see is if they go all super against ryan.  Like the democratic primariy where stephenapolis spent 1/3rd of the debate on Reverend Wright.

I traveled back in time from an hour and a half in the future to tell you guys that Gary Johnson hit the stage and gave everyone the Stone Cold Stunner, so he won.

Gary Johnson is supposed to be doing a commentary, here, if anyone is interested.
