Forums - Politics Discussion - Is Romney actually leading in the polls or are some people delusional?

Politico ran this article on the polls, and how Romney is trailing in most of them, fairly consistently. However, there is some saying that the polls are wrong, and Romney is actiually leading.  So, are the polls wrong and Romney is leading, or are people being delusional?

This site has Romney leading pretty consistently:

The parallel universe where Mitt Romney leads all polls

To talk with any working Republican political operative these days is to hear the same tale of woe: a grim accounting of the past few weeks, a dash of gallows humor and a measure of hope that President Obama is still beatable. Never in question is that Mitt Romney is trailing — the private surveys these strategists see for their down-ballot clients make that clear. The only question is by how much.

But hanging up the phone or clicking out of e-mail is to find a parallel universe on the right. On TV, talk radio and especially the Internet is a place where the swing-state polls that show Romney losing are not just inaccurate but part of an intentional plot by the heretofore unknown media-pollster axis to depress Republican voters. In this other world, Romney not only isn’t losing — he’s on the verge of a convincing victory.

“I believe if the election were held today, Romney would win by 4 or 5 points,” trumpeted Dick Morris on Fox News last week, predicting a win for the GOP ticket in Florida, Ohio, Virginia, Nevada and Pennsylvania. In public polls right now, Romney is losing in each of those states. But, Morris said, that’s because the data are all wrong.

I'm confused as to what you're asking in this topic. Are you asking if Romney is leading and data from other sites is incorrect?

It seems like you're implying that Romney is winning all the polls and based on one article, that means every other source is wrong and we're all delusional for believing the other sources?

Republicans never had a positive view of science.

Love and tolerate.

My understanding is that many polls that have Obama out in front with a large lead are using the 2008 model of voter turnout. Many Republicans find that absurd, because they don't think that the Democrats are nearly as excited as they were in the last election, and they also think that Republicans are more energized. So they have a problem with how the data is extrapolated.

Anything that goes against Republicans are propaganda lies by the liberal media. My buddy Rush Limbaugh told me this and he told me Mitt is going to win.  Ah wait... Shit there goes the promised Pennsylvania.

Former Democrat pollster Pat Caddell believes that the polls are massively skewed, and that's not the only thing.

Don't lend too much credence to polling services in general because they give you no breakdown of (D) (R) (I) percentages. If you poll 55% democrats, of course Obama is in the lead.

Use your brain, independent voters rarely side with an incumbent. Romney will win this election, but it will be extremely close.

Pollsters know that their job is to report with accuracy. If *all* the pollsters were getting it wrong, people would be losing their jobs. Even Wall Street Journal is showing Obama currently ahead in the polls.

The spin comes with how the polls are interpreted, but the raw data is not false.

Damn straight. Folks at my office are over the moon that we got an injunction on this.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

It's all part of the big media conspiracy against the Republicans ( says Fox News, which last I checked was a media too..).
