I don't get it. Was the first Killzone highly regarded? or is there just this much hype for the second?
I have an N-Gage... and still play it.

This is a flawed analysis ...
People who look for game news online are going to represent a small demographic of gamers and statistics gathered about their buying habits can not be generalized.
if even half of those gamers bought a PS3 this year that would be amazing. Would be truly great to see what happens.
All the article is saying is that the PS3 could be even with 360, which no one disputes. It even basically says that the Wii will stay ahead, even with only a few AAA releases.

The first KZ was enjoyed by some but overall was considered a disappointment as it had been anointed a "Halo killer" before release and couldn't live up. Infact I vividly remember the backlash at IGN when their review had just come out and it was a 7 something. Many people were upset and the IGN editor just kept saying wait and see other reviewers will agree with me and for the most part they did.
So yeah hype is pretty much the driving force for KZ 2. It's turning out to be a beautiful looking game and some of the things they talk about in the previews sound good on paper, we'll just have to wait and see how well executed it all is.
Speaking in general, I just think many analysts/media outlets are eating so much crow right now that there's a need to try and save face and continue predicting monstrous PS3 sales and badmouth anything Wii and Wii-related at every opportunity.
Besides, it's gotten quite lame how people keep prophesying a banner year at the expense of Microsoft and Nintendo. I believe the PS3 will do very well this year, but so too will the 360 and Wii.
I don't think there's any methodology to any of these predictions most times. In the PS3's case, it seems like just a bunch of sentimental guessing.
Shock of all shock, a poll of hardcore gamers and they choose the PS3. Well call me dumbfounded!
According to IGN GamerMetrics, which monitors the traffic patterns of some 15 million hardcore gamers, the PlayStation 3 is "poised to make a run" in 2008 thanks to strong interest in Metal Gear Solid 4, Killzone 2, Devil May Cry 4, and LittleBigPlanet, three of which are exclusive.
15 million is still a large amount of gamers interested in those ps3 exclusives.
