Forums - Nintendo Discussion - BBC report on wii u

Ok, mr bbc reporter the difference between wii u and ps3/vita combo is that 100% of wii u owners will have touchscreen, but only 10% of ps3 users will have vita. Hence a touch screen will be at the core of wii u gameplay but only an addon for some ppl for ps3.

Plus there are no proven asymetric gameplay options yet for PS3 + PS-Vita. So we don't even know that it is or isn't possible. I mean PS3 was waiting for Party Chat for long time before Sony said, we tried but isn't going to happen... because it just wasn't designed to allow that with the way the resources are reserved/allocated.

Cross-play is just multiplayer betwen different platforms (like Portal 2 between PS3 & Steam)... it is not the same technical implementation as asymetric gameplay which is happening more within the split-screen multiplayer norms. You need multiple copies of the game for online, while split-screen runs on one copy of the game. How many games support online but don't support split-screen? Split-screen requires more resources and different programming... instead of focus on optimizing net-code, the focus is on memory/processor resource management.

Well this escalated to a Wii U verse PSVITA/PS3 thread quickly :(

The reporter did a bad job because he didn't fully understand what he was covering. Neither the Wii U or cross-controller (not cross-play) are out yet so it is too early to declare which preforms better. If he wanted to bring up the vita, he should have asked "what differentiates the Wii U from Sony's upcoming release of cross-controller with the PS Vita and PS3?" Instead he is very obviously saying he likes the Vita and doesn't know what the Wii-U is.

I fail to see anything wrong with his line of questioning. There are obviously some people out there wondering the same thing. All she had to do was give a convincing answer, which isn't at all hard to do, and that would have been the end of it. You can't expect him to avoid that obvious question--especially since Sony is out there basically claiming the console is already obsolete.

Or the lazy journo could of done his homework before attending the event

The most disappointing thing was that that Lady choked hard. She should have stomped his "bu-bu-but the viiitaaaa?" easily if she was actually prepared for her fucking job.

Just another example of a non gamer representing a gaming company. Nintendo, give me her job.

Ongoing bet with think-man: He wins if MH4 releases in any shape or form on PSV in 2013, I win if it doesn't.

Yes. Sony could try to do a Vita/PS3 combo and compete with the Wii U, but they haven't and there is a good chance they won't have very many games that have cross play enabled.

He doesn't need to ask that because its patently bloody obvious.

its actually  a ridiculous question.

To us yeah but not to the general public that watches the BBC. Just like smartphones verse handhelds, the world is full of morons that don't understand gaming. His problem was how he asked, not that he asked it.

The sad thing is now lot's of people that watched this will be just as confused as the reporter.

The lady he interviewed could have just shot him down with the question "Does a PS3 come with a Vita?"

I LOVE ICELAND!

I don't see what was so horrible in what he said, it's not like the lady couldn't have shot down his argument easily

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-19758380 The reporter is an annoying ***t head, listen to what he's says at the end, obviously knows nowt!

What's even worse is the woman he interviewed at the end. She should get sacked from that interview performance. She's a marketing executive - she should have said that the GamePad use, unlike remote play with the Vita and PS3, is completely lag free, hardly any games on the PS3 support remote play and every Wii U game is playable using the GamePad as a controller and that you won't have the experience of playing the likes of NSMB U, Nintendo Land, Rayman Legends and ZombiU if you want to use a PS3 and Vita together and that the GamePad can be used as a remote control.

He knew nowt but it's her job to know everything about the product and educate the idiot. She was about as useful as a chocolate teapot.
