Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Which console should I sell / trade-in for a Wii U

I am considering getting rid of my 360 to put towards a Wii U, of late I have not really put much play time into it (quite a while actually) and only used it to do some streaming, active gold account until 1/3/13.

On the other hand my PS3 has not been played in roughly 4 months, not even powered on, it acts as a blu-ray player, but even that it has not done in some time, however there are more RPG experiences available on there that I would want than on the 360, including the last of us which I will give some time to later. Not to mention the PS3 as a blu-ray player is capable as a 3D Blu-Ray (my regular player is not 3D) though I am not making use of that right now.

Honestly I could get rid of both of them, but I don't think I will be doing that, in reality I don't need to sell either one to get the system, but I'd rather not let atleast one collect dust any longer.

I say keep the PS3, there're more games in the way and even if you don't use it that much you'll still have the Blue-Ray player. The 360 doesn't have any exclusives coming soon (except Halo 4) so I don't think you will missed that much, and you can get all the third party games on the PS3 (or maybe the Wii U if developers jump on board).

Nintendo and PC gamer

Since you use them sporadically, sell your 360 because with PS3 you get free online play if you ever use it again, plus the Blu-ray player. It also has more exclusive games coming still.

No troll is too much for me to handle. I rehabilitate trolls, I train people. I am the Troll Whisperer.

You're on a Sony biased website so it's clear what people are going to say. Look at it in comparisons. What is coming out for each? Some multiplatform games that you can get on the Wii U other than Call of Duty which you will probably want to play with your friends so whatever console they get it for. Halo 4, Gears of War Judgement, Forza Horizons, Last of Us, Sony All Stars, God of War, beyond, etc. I wouldnt get rid of either one to be honest but pick which one has the better future for you (Not everyone else) to keep.

It's really down to which console has better games in your opinion and which console you think will offer you more entertainment.
With many PS3 exclusiveness on the way for Q4 2012/Q1 2013 as well as the benefits of being a blu ray player I'd stick with the PS3.

Although if you are a big fan of Xbox 360 excluvies (halo, forza, gears of war) then you might want to consider waiting for the wiiu and not selling any of your consoles.

I'd sell whichever system I have less games for, and also sell those games.

Love and tolerate.

Tbh if you keep the 360 and will start to play online again you will have to pay again. And your ps3 has free online play so you wont need to pay if you want to play online from time to time. Plus as you mentioned it is a bluray player.

And as you said it has the Jrpg etc. and exclusive bonus.

I would try to sell the 360 now before the console might get a price drop you can always go and buy it again if it drops in price and you miss it.

But I guess selling a PS3 would give you more money for your WiiU.

What if you keep both and just sell some games you actually never played? Or already finished and wont touch again?

I traded in my PS3 for $150 off my Wii U and I definitely not regretting it especially since they announced a new slim version that will lead to even cheaper prices for the original slims. Since my PS3 was a netflix player instead of the blu-ray player I intended it to be, it was kind of an easy decision to trade it in after seeing that Nintendo TVii and how easy it will be for my family to operate it. I would say sell the Xbox 360 but you will probably get more from the PS3.

That is where I am at, I am not using it, I suppose I could get it again, i'll sell both and get a boat load of games, my primary gaming method is PC, Nintendo, etc. I loved my ps3 for The Show, favorite game over the years, and the rpgs were good, but better to sell it then not, and I don't have a slim, its an 80gb (I regret selling my original 60gb that had full backwards compatibility, but never the less).

I think I will end up selling both, knowing the ps3 only has downwards to go, and I am really excited about Nintendo TVii too.

Thanks to everyone for your input!

Keep them both. Sell a child/sibling/kidney.
