Nintendo just buy the company and their IPs already!

This.  I'm sure they can work that out with Sega since they just need cash period and none of Platinum's games sold anything anyways, so it probably wouldn't feel like much of a loss to Sega.

Just let Kamiya make the next Starfox game and I'll be happy whether it's on 3DS, Wii U, or hell, even Virtual Boy.

Is platinum for sale? Hmm...

HMM...

I'd love to see PG becoming a 2nd or 1st party studio! This could strengthen PG's IPs by becoming Nintendo proprietary and I would love seeing PG work on Nintendo franchises like star fox or F-zero.

This news is nothing more than to show Nintendo and Platinum are on nice terms...

There's probably not even an idea for a game in their heads right now, anything is possible, including nothing. To me they could use a forgotten Nintendo franchise, one that ends with oid.

do you think they could make a metroid fps that holds a candle against retro studios metroids ?

No.  It's really not their style of game.  Atlthough if they wanted to make a Metroid more along the lines of Other M without the poor design choices, it could be a pretty cool game.

@Roma- Sadly, Platinum games owns very few of their IPs.  Capcom still owns the rights to Okami and Viewtiful Joe, and Sega still owns the rights to Bayonetta.

who owns the right to Vanquish? and as Ken said they could probably get Bayonetta for a good deal as Sega needs all the help they can get.. wait they should buy Sega as well!

Okami and Viewtiful Joe will probably be MPlat games (if they ever make new ones) anyway so they don't need to buy those up

Viewtiful Joe and Okami are owned by Capcom because Platinum Games never actually developed them. Those were made by a Capcom development team called Clover who later went on to make Platinum Studios when Capcom start reorganizing itself and got restrictive.

If Nintendo bought the company I suspect most of their top heads would leave the company because while they like to make games, they seem to relish in freedom and I doubt Nintendo ownership would grant them a lot of that. I could see a close partnership if Bayonetta and Wonderful 101 do well that one day may result in 2nd party status similar to Retro and Monolith Soft but for now, they are mercenaries.

I hope they do a 3DS game however, they are talented band based off their previous works.

Retro is fully owned by Nintendo so they are first party as for monolith soft i recently read Nintendo bought them completely now so first patry there as well

ah didn't know that about Okami and Joe

if they bought PG the staff (owners) would probably only accept to be bought on specific terms and if Nintendo agrees then they will let themselves be bought

I think Monolith is 81% owned by Nintendo and 19% by Namco-Bandai.

Umm...how about Infinite Space 2 (with better gameplay please) or another RPG?

Soooooooooo day 1!

I really liked that game! The gameplay was kind of ok with me tbh. For a sequel I would hope better customization, more ships, but overall more Nia!
