Earlier this year we where delighted when Sega announced one of the most hotly-anticipated titles in the history of TW and RTS - Total War: Rome II™ - sequel to the multi-million selling, 92% Metacritic-rated classic Rome: Total War, encompassing one of the best-known periods in world history. 

“Total War: Rome II will sink players into the dangerous political machinations of Rome’s senate, while asking them to struggle with family dilemmas and question the loyalty of ‘friends’ and allies. Leading the greatest army ever seen into battle will be just one challenge you will face at the head of the world’s first superpower”

Players will have the options to help forge an empire, restore the republic or grasp the reins of power for yourself and become a hated tyrant.

The creative director Mike Simpson, has said “We’re now pushing that vision at both ends of the spectrum. From the immense reach of the sandbox campaign right down to the human-level drama of a single warrior on the battlefield, we’re aiming for an unprecedented level of detail and scale”.

Rome II is due to be released in 2013

 So whats the difference in the sequel? The game is set to have a larger campaign map than Rome: Total War in particular going East. The armies will be bigger, and carry a history with them throughout the campaign, with different legions having different specialities based on previous battles and stations. Creative Assembly has stated that they wish to bring out the more human side of the war this way, with soldiers reacting with horror as their comrades get killed around them, and officers inspiring their men with heroic speeches before siege towers hit the walls of the enemy city. This will be realized using facial animations for individual units, adding an unbelievable feel of realism and personality to the battles. 

Going to upgrade my PC just for this game.

Your not the only one. This has been my most anticipated game since 2004 with the release of the original. 

Fortunately though, you won't have to bust the bank on this one, Creative Assembly has stated that they are trying to put in variables to the quality, so that those with less powerful/ non-gaming computers will still be able to enjoy the game. 

I'm playing Shogun 2 now, I can't wait for this to come out :D If its anywhere near my exams.. I've failed xD

I believe they are aiming for the latter part of 2013- so Late Summer- August time.
Though I think thats good, because i want this game to be as amazing as it should be to give justice to Rome: Total War. If that means they have to spend longer making it, so be it

Another thing they are adding which is new, is proper Naval Battles, with their own tactics and weaponry.
They are also adding in the ability to mix naval battles with land battles for coastal ports. So taking people off ships and landing, whilst simultaneously attacking from the land with land troops, and firing bolts from the ships. :D

I demand the return of incendiary pigs.
