Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Who is NOT Buying WiiU? And Why?

I'm not too sure at this point... I have no interest at all in Nintendo's core franchises (other than perhaps Zelda) so they need to be able to wow me to get my money, something that they have never been able to do to date!

Would Squall Returns : Final Fantasy VIII be adequate? lol

Did you buy a PS360 after they were cheaper than $299?

For me the Wii-U is a bit expensive (but that is due to the fact of my lack of $$$ atm lol).

My main reason to not buying a Wii-U is because lack of interesting launch titles. I'll be waiting for Super Smash Bros before I get my Wii-U.

Also I bought my PS3 for $199.99 (with 2 games bundled) last black friday. (I waited 5 years for this)

I see.

I guess buying PS3 @ £425 at launch kinda spoilt me (Mums fault).

Now that I need to afford my own stuff things are a bit difficult lol. But £249 is manageable right now.

I'll be buying one, but not at launch or any time soon. The only launch window game that's really a "must buy" for me is Pikmin 3, and that's not out till 2013 (with no release date so far). They'll need a couple more games to get me excited about the system before I invest. 3D Mario, Star Fox, Battalion Wars (or Advance Wars, actually), F-Zero, Donkey Kong Country or a proper 3D Pokemon are the most likely candiates to make me invest. I'd be quite interested to see what they could do with Mario Party & the tablet controller as well.

So basically, I'm still buying a Nintendo console for Nintendo games. But as a Sony fan, that's not really much of a surprise I guess. I think the third-party support is great for all you 'only Nintendo' fans out there, but it does nothing for me.

So far the majority of their good launch games are still late ports or at least multiplat games that are still available on HD consoles, so no big reason to switch to Wii U this year.

Next year I'm surely going to wait for E3 first to see Durango's first appearance and its launch games.

So far besides NSMB U, Rayman Legends and Bayonetta 2 (which won't come out in the near future) there is nothing that interests me enough to warrant a new console purchase.

I am not.

I am not a huge First Party Fan (For Nintendo, Sony or MS) so those iconic games/characters hold no sway. I am all about my JRPGs (Have my Computer for EVERYTHING else) and whichever console gets those in abundance/quality will get my purchase.

If the quality/quantity is high enough in 2 or all 3, I will own all 3. Price does not matter to me, nor does gimmicks/accessories, just the damn games. Give me a reason to not keep playing on Steam and I will buy the Console.

I like your approach. How likely do you think it is, that the Wii U will get a lot of JRPG's? The system launches in Japan with Monster Hunter, a 2D Mario game and free Dragon Quest X Wii U Beta access for buyers of the premium model. Also Monolith Soft already has a Wii U game in the works and the console looks like a trap specifically engineered to catch japanese handheld crazy folks. I think the chances are pretty good.

Ongoing bet with think-man: He wins if MH4 releases in any shape or form on PSV in 2013, I win if it doesn't.

- I have a huge backlog on PC & PS3
- After those two generation, we all learnt that it's cheaper to pick up later, more reliable models and second hand games (eg 360, PS3 slim)
- First games on a next gen consoler are always last gen techniques on unmastered hardware (Remember Perfect Dark Zero...)
- Apart ZombiU, none of the annonced games interest me. Besides, most of them are multiplats
- I played, but not really liked Bayonetta.
- Just bought this morning a shiny Sapphire Radeon HD7970 Vapor-X 3GB GDDR5 (bragging rights !) to replace my ol' HD5870 and I can say with little doubt that this baby pwns any next gen console to come for years to come... for the price of the WiiU+ZombiU bundle (and I have Sleeping Dogs free with it)

I'll probably buy a WiiU, but maybe in a year if the exclusivities are interesting (and we can expect them to be !). Multiplats are just better looking and cheaper on my PC.

EDIT : Ofc, the second a FZero or Metroid Prime is released, I'll instabuy a WiiU !

I will not buy a WiiU because I'm not a fan of Nintendo games and the games I usualy play either don't get released on Nintendo platforms (though WiiU gets some of them) or are also available on the platforms I buy. Once Durango and Orbis release I believe some third party support will drop for the WiiU or games will lack a lot of features/graphics/etc... I still think Nintendo should turn into a service like Xbox Live and offer their unique games to all platforms.

Not enough killer games at launch for me.
Zombi-U looks good (but may turn out to be crap)
Mario (never been a fan) doesn't hold much interest.
And the Multi-plat games i'll have either played/playing or will get on ps3.

So i'll wait for the inevitable Zelda / price drop.

Just my opinions of course.

prolly gonna get it when nintendo releases the next console. made the mistake of getting a ps3 when its pretty much the same as a ps2 with better graphics. gonna keep playing the wii until then.

I have no plans on getting the Wii U until a paper starfox rpg is released for it.
