Forums - Gaming Discussion - So where does Bayonnetta 2 exclusivity to the Wii U Rank all time in Gaming media surprises?

Final Fantasy VII Remake -- For Wii U + 3DS exclusive.

That would be the funniest meltdowns ever. Do it Square-Enix. I can taste the bitter tears from here.

I have absolutely no interest in such a game, but I want it just for the meltdowns, haha.

I think Microsoft should do it instead. Then we have both Sony and Nintendo fanboys meltdown.

I've said this in another thread...I don't think nintendo scoring Bayonetta 2 as an exclusive is,in itself, that big a deal in the grand scheme of things...(although I'm a fan of the first game so I'm excited as i will definately buy a wii u...having said that, if it had come out on a rival console I would just as likely have bought it anyway)

I do think nintendo picked Bayonetta 2 up as part of a larger plan ie to win the loyalty of platinum games in order to get them to develop more games for nintendo in the future and if these are exclusives then I do think it's a big deal. Platinum games have a lot of potential and are one of the best new(ish) game developers around, exactly the sort of company nintendo needs. If they can set up some sort of RETRO like or early RARE relationship with Platinum, it could amount to great things in the future.

I hope this is true. The potential of a productive nintendo-platinum relationship is incredibly enticing. I also agree with an earlier comment which noted that 3rd party developers can do better when they are focused on one system. As good as it will be for Nintendo to finally get the same 3rd parties as everyone else (I am assuming this) .. the best games for Wii U will always be the ones that are Wii U specific.

Kamiya isn't directing it so I don't know why fans got so upset. It's like getting upset if Ninja Gaiden 3 was 360 exclusive.

Ehm somewhere in the lower range if you ask me. It is Bayonetta guys, not Final Fantasy going multiplat - THAT was a megaton that made MS won a whole E3.

599 USD was another megaton. Not a good one, but a megaton.

GTA IV going multiplat with exclusive DLC for the 360 was HUGE.

MS buying RARE was surprising.

Gabe Newell praising PS3 was a surprise.

Project Natal was a surprise.

But Bayonetta becoming a Wii U exclusive is nothing too dramatic IMO

The fact that you ignored Wii's unique controller speaks volumes in terms of your perspective on this issue.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

I think this is somewhere around the rage of PC going at it over Left 4 Dead 2 being released one year after Left 4 Dead and the Vita's 3G support being with AT&T.

It was very surprising, but nowhere near as much as the sheer extent of meltdowns across the internet. This is probably the biggest meltdown since E3 2008; after hearing about it I expected several annoyed fanboys, but nothing like the scenes we've seen on the likes of Gaf and SRK.

Haha, yeah, that'd be even better as MS almost certainly has the smallest share of JRPG fans.
