At Nintendo's WiiU presentation earlier this day,  Activision’s Eric Hirshberg said Black Ops 2 on WiiU runs at 1080p. ("FullHD")

As we have seen the console will allow for dualscreen multiplayer. Where one player plays on the big TV screen and the other one plays on the Gamepad.

But what does this mean? 

When the console displays 1920x1080 pixels on the TV and at the same time a second player plays on the tablet which has 854 x 480 does this automatically confirm that the WiiU can support 4 Megapixel resolutions?


1920x1080  +  854x480 =  2774x1560  = 4.3 megapixels   thats more than 4x times the pixel count of the usual 1280x720p on todays  "HD twins".  (4.69 times the resolution to be exact)

This is a significant boost over the  960x544 (0.52 megapixels )Black Ops 1 had on PS3.

But of course it does NOT mean Black Ops 2 on PS3 will have the same resolution as Black Ops 1 had. But even if it runs at 1280x720 It doesn't come close to the WiiU pixel count (in case it really is 2774x1560 tho)


So even if the rest of Black Ops 2 on WiiU  looks exactly the same or even slightly inferior to the game on the PS3 or 360, it shows that the WiiU is not less powerful than today's HD consoles.

he didn't say it will run in full hd, he said wii u runs in full hd and up to 60fps (cod will run in 60fps but probably/maybe not in 1080p)



Even though we're not 100% sure what he means by "full HD", It'd be nice to finally see some real games running in 1080p. I felt kinda cheated since so little HD games actually support it :(

I hope Pikmin 3 is 1080p...

wat? did you even read what you wrote?

The only question is if "full hd" based on what he said means 1080p as it should or just generic HD... i.e. 720p and up.

sure, i wrote that he said wii u runs in full hd which we all know for months now but he did never say cod will run in "full hd". what's your problem exactly?

btw i changed that a little bit because he said "Nintendo’s new machine runs in full HD at up to 60 frames per second"



The actual pixel amount (in your screen + controller example) would be 2,483,520.

So no.

Dammit I didn't expect someone to see it so fast.  Well done :)  Of course its an mathematical error...  because in my calculation  I multiply 1920 wih 480  and also 854 with 1080  which makes for a far greater pixel count than there actually is.  In fact its 2073600 pixels (1920x1080)   +  409920 pixels (854x480) therefore the max resolution can only be  2.48 megapixels and not 4.3 megapixels.
