Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Pachter: Wii U price is right, but expect price cut soon~ Do you think the price is too high?

"Still, Pachter did say that he expects 2013 to see a price cut for the machine, as competitive PS3 and Xbox 360 deals come to the fore."

You can always smell shit when you have Pachter near your side. This is complete bullshit. Nintendo would only do a price cut in response to the new systems from Sony and Microsoft not their current systems. Why the fuck would they care if the PS3 or 360 got a better bundle or reduced price?  They will have the Wii at 100 and the Wii U at 299 / 350.  I suppose he mentions this for all the fucks that think Wii U isn't a new gen console.  If people are on the fence about purchasing the Wii U and decide to go with the PS3 or 360 at a more reduced price then they probably weren't too interested in the Wii U to begin with.

As usual, Patcher is spot on with his nintendo analysis. There are probably sufficient nintendo fanboys to to sell out the limited quantities of consoles through the holiday.

However, if the price for the deluxe isn't cut by $150 by next fall, then the console is dead in the water.

Reduce by 150.... what crack are you smoking?  They would only have to reduce the price to 250.  Remember the Wii sold fine at 250 for a very long time.

It's way to high of a price. $250 tops is what i would pay, and honestly doubt I would pay that much.

It's a decent starting price, but it's going to have a hard time once the xbox and ps3 both drop their price right before the wiiu release. Oh well, I'm pre ordering two anyway. One 350 bundle for me, and the 300 dollar bundle for my parents. Actually about to run out and do it right now.

Pachter is a god among men awful.

Seriously though, I'll give Pachter a little credit this time.  While he still couldn't help himself with at least one remark, at least this time he acknowledges that they did good.

2013 price cut? I say 90% no. I leave 10% because we have no strong confirmations on what the next systems will have or likely price at.

Well, it does not need to be formal price cut. Nintendo could (in theory) sell the "deluxe" version without NintendoLand for 300 dollars next year and it is a reduced price from the current one (And I would buy it inmediatly).

well I can't speak for the US of A

but AUS

Wii U Basic Pack AU $349.95 SRP
Wii U Premium Pack AU $429.95 SRP

AS OF TODAY:

Xbox 360 4gb Kinect Console = AU $369
Xbox 360 250gb model = AU $399
PS3 160gb model= AU $350
Playstation Vita Console (Wifi) (Bonus Starter Pack) = AU $350
3DS XL = AU $229-$250

so I say reasonably priced.

this guy is insane, few minutes earlier when we still did only know the japanese price with speculation to get it in usa for $249 and $299, so $50 less as it was reality he tweeted:

"Wii U at ¥25,000/30,000 excl. tax implies $250/300 U.S., €250/€300 and £200/250 UK. Sounds a bit high to me, no SW incl, only 8GB/32GB "

so yes, the consoles for 249 and 299 sounds too high for him but 299 and 349 is good pricing few minutes later...

They'll wait for another console maker to announce their new platform at the exact same price then undercut it drastically.
