Forums - Sales Discussion - Official PR Spin for December

Yeah, M$ is outselling Sony......in the US. The PS3 has been outselling the 360 WW since what, October? Even a couple months in the middle. The PS3 will continue to outsell the 360 in 08 as well. As for the WIi, who cares. Its the compliment console for sure. I would imagine a great majority of owners have a Wii and a PS3/360. I am sure a lot have just the Wii, but not that many have a 360 and a PS3.

I just love how Sony can never separate anything out. Always have to combined PS2, PSP, and PS3. They do that with all their PR spins haha.
 While they shouldn't combine them, they should definitely emphasize that they have 3 platforms for sale, more than either Nintendo (who is freaking dominating anyway so it doesn't really matter) or Microsoft. It makes sense at least to me that their sales are spread out over the 3 platforms. Though, I must admit that none are selling as well as Sony would probably like (barring the PS2 which has had great lifetime sales and just now seems to be slowing slightly.)

 "§ "Assassin's Creed" for Xbox 360 was the fourth best selling title, having sold 894,000 units. It outsold the PS3 version more than 2:1."
that one makes sense to me, the 360 has not quite 2x the users (give or take) as the PS3.

* In 2007, the video game industry grew by 43 percent over 2006. Nintendo is responsible for 60 percent of that growth.

That's pretty damn impressive..

Anyone else find this interesting?

Since their respective launches, Nintendo has sold more than 17.6 million Nintendo DS systems and nearly 7.4 million Wii systems in the United States alone.

VG places Wii sales in the US at 8.4m... or is this due to NA vrs US differences? (guess it would have to be... nevermind!)

Software Momentum (PS3, PS2 and PSP)

* PS2 Guitar Hero III was the 3rd best-selling game this holiday season across all platforms with 2.7 million units sold from October through December. Also, the PS2 version of Guitar Hero III is the best-selling version since the launch of the title.

* PlayStation total software revenue

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

 VG doesn't track US sales so you confuse me.  VG tracks US+Canada.

Haha my favorite is Microsoft's "Spent more dollars" method of comparison.

not a fan of PR spins but at least most companies can do it without trashing their competitors

Its funny to me that Sony is touting games that are coming -- rather than games which were released last month in its press release on last month's sales. This is what they've been doing since the PS3 came out and I don't think they can spin their way out of poor sales any longer.
