Kind of off-topic, but am I the only one who thought Avatar looked like shit and fake as hell?

I guess from a technological standpoint it's great and the next consoles won't come near it though, but damn did it look cartoony and CGI-esque.

Could be, but I thought it looked great! What was bad about it to you?

Basically what I said in my last sentence. It seemed to me it was striving  to look realistic but it didn't, it looked cartoony and the real actors looked totally out of place. Maybe it's just me.

No troll is too much for me to handle. I rehabilitate trolls, I train people. I am the Troll Whisperer.

In your dreams I say. Lets say 2009's best computers need a whole week to render 1 frame of this and a 2014 console will be able to render 60 frames of this per second ??? (this comparison is bullshit with the 1 frame per week thing but it shows what I mean.)

So NO WAY.

Maybe they mean It might be able to create close up ingame cutscene (like Final Fantasy 10 or Heavy Rain are "cheating" with their close up scenes or Mario 64's floating intro face looked way better than the actual mario face in the game)

But real ingame graphics like this wont happen for a PS4.

I am right with you on this one. Avatar did not wow me from a graphics or 3d point. Next gen consoles may not be able to reach the Tech levels of Avatar, but I think plenty will have better art direction that will make them more believeable.

As to those saying BS. This is only talking about lighting. They are not saying it will have the same depth of geometry, partical effects, ect.

it will look good i'm sure, ... but not that good.

Just Avatar's water physics seen in the ocean done in real time can kill all three next gen consoles combined.

This reminds me that PS2 was going to do Toy Story graphics lol

Nonsense.

In the wilderness we go alone with our new knowledge and strength.

That's old. The AMD (GPU) itself saind that.

http://www.tomshardware.com/news/AMD-XBox-720-Xbox-720-Avatar-Graphics-Neal-Robison,13095.html

"AMD is adding that the console will be capable of producing graphics with Avatar-levels of detail"

Now we need to know what is "Avatar-levels of detail"... maybe it's not the same level of graphics.

I don't care about the graphics, but I do care about playing my game in fluid 30-60fps. If the new systems can do that and have the same level of graphics they do now, I'll buy into the next gen.

I'm talking about games like Dragon's Dogma and Dark Souls.
