Seems legit.

I was under the impression that Broadway was further behind the 360 CPU than that. My mistake, I guess. (Out of curiosity, about how big is the gap? Would 5 or 6 un-enhanced Broadways rival the 360 CPU?) But if this was true, it would mean that, power aside, the fundamental design of the Wii U CPU (or each core, at least) would be unchanged since the Gamecube CPU was built in 1999. |
That is precisely why this has to be a fake. All statements from IBM and Nintendo state the CPU was based on Power7 which is significantly better design than "broadway".

... Don't forget that IBM stopped producing PowerPC 7xx processors below 90nm, and the Wii U CPU is confirmed to be at 45nm

And here it is, right from IBM:
"To feed the eight high performance cores the chip has two memory controllers, one on each side of the chip." Wow... TWO memory controllers...
But this is all hypothetical. The WiiU was never planned with such a compley CPU from the start.
If true, CPU would be disappointing. But the GPU is still good imo.

But didn't all the rumors say it was a Power7 "express", and this rumor says "enhanced" Broadway cores. Maybe there is some connection? (Either way its still underwhelming if true imo)
