Pretty ironic when consoles are just wanabee PCs

Consoles would not exist if they were wannabee PCs, otherwise there would only only be PCs. *facepalm*

where are the 2 most sold ps3 game in this comparsion? *trollface*

No one justifies it this way, though. The justification for excluding PC is that it's not a console. Even then, you could argue that it's unfair since excluding PC multiplats only really benefits the 360. The same way, this only benefits the PS3 here (and greatly, at that).

Also, the fact that I'm far from the only one here who finds this comparison ridiculous speaks volumes, don't you think?

Oh, and I said the first Mario and Sonic; the one that sold 7.85m. After looking it up, I see that it was actually published by Nintendo and not Sega even though the DS version and subsequent games in the series were. That's just odd.

PC plays games. PC is a console.

My old calculator plays games. Calculator is a console.

My piece of paper plays noughts and crosses. Piece of paper is a console.

See my point? I mean, given the whole brouhaha with AppStore games and whatnot recently, surely you've already heard of the distinction between "dedicated" handhelds and phones that play games. Same logic applies here; console implies "dedicated".

Actually, to be honest, I'd say that PS3 and 360 are just glorified DVD players, but then that isn't politically correct. And these definitions are mostly dependant on what people are willing to agree they are.

Get outta here you off-topic fart! This is about 3rd party exclusives*

Yes, but the thread conveniently bends the rules of "EXCLUSIVE" . No shame, no shame at all

By definition, a consoles is a computer, so your second example is invalid.

I can accept that your calculator is a console BUT unless it can play the same games as the PS3 or 360, it's irrelavent in the context of comparing exclusives. It doesn't really matter if a device is a console or not. For all practical purposes, the only thing that matters is if there is any device in the world ( ideally with a considerable install base) that can fully play the same game as another console, then that game is not exclusive.

Calculators are a legit answer but Pieces of Paper are not I am afraid.

Fine. I amend my first statement to "PC isn't a dedicated console."  Not sure why it matters so much, though. This is really just an argument on semantics. My point was clear, I'm quite sure, :P.

And, Jay, you really made my point for me there. If you'll notice the post you quoted, I was pretty much arguing that multiplats with 360 should not be counted as "exclusives" for the PS3 and the point that we're on right now is pretty much just what most people use as justification to count more 360 exclusives, not so much what I think. I couldn't care less if the PC is actually considered a console.

If we're going by any device that can play the same game being included, then that kills the comparison in this thread, does it not?

I'm not sure if this is supposed to be another copycat thread or a serious response... But I doubt the later. :P

I am impressed with MGS 4's numbers. I remember it was last year or the year before that it reached 5 million, it legged itself to 5.6+ million, impressive. Hope it reaches 6.

You missed Mario & Sonic at the olympic games: 7.85m

Hmm I think Nintendo was listed as the publisher. Let me check my sources

Nintendo just published the game in Japan. Same for Olympic Winter Games.
