OT: The only thing I got from that video is that Demi Lovato is an asshole

I don't watch these shows but these kinds of outbursts were inevitable by bringing in people like Britney Spears and (especially) Demi Lovato on as judges ... While I'm not as negative about singers like these as some people are, these girls are famous for reasons other than their singing ability; and are not well respected enough to give harsh criticism.

Most people with a good ear and a decent musical background can probably judge the singing ability of the people on shows like this, but to let people down in a harsh way you really have to have the person's respect. To use an analogy that is appropriate for this site, if you made an indie game and someone like Shigeru Miyamoto lists off a dozen things he thinks are critical flaws with your game you will likely take it better than if it is the designer at Ubisoft who makes all their petz games; even if they said exactly the same thing.

I have to confess that all the time I kept hearing about 'Demi' on a talent show, I kept wondering why anyone would put Demi Moore on as a judge. She is a fine actress, but not known for or singing or dancing. I had never heard of the other one.

I think a real reason people hate autotune is most everyone knows (or should) a truly talent vocalist - hard working, great voice, pitch control, but they don't get to be packaged stars cause they don't look the part, overweight or too old. So stars get made out others with marginal talent - but look the part and can be autotweaked so they sound ok.

Britney, is a great performer - not the best singer. They are different talents - she can put on an amazing show, but has vocal 'help.' She was on 'Star Search' and did well, but didn't win. OH, found the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wWuK5EnXaWU

So the Judges are , autotune slut, a manic depressive, former has been label tool & the guy that keeps finding ways of ruin some great British talent shows by bring them stateside. not a panel who's advice i would value.

Regardless if she does that or not, one cannot deny her album sales. 100+ million. Pretty hard to argue with success, huh?

Being in the business that long exposes you to so many people.  Artist typically refer others who have that star power, or in this case, "X Factor." It makes Britney a perfect judge.

She can thank Max Martin for that.
