If anything this thread proves how polarized people are about the game. It's truly a 'love it or hate it' kind of game. I for one loved it, and would love to see a sequel too it.

Stories in Metroid games always suck, except for Fusion; other Metroid games are very lacking in the story area and are kind of boring as a result.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

If you removed the Metroid license from the game, cut out Sakamoto's story, and made it a sci-fi action collaboration between Nintendo and Team Ninja, IMO a lot of people would be praising it and asking for a sequel.

Team Ninja and Sakamoto should work again on something, just make it an original IP so it's not bogged down by the Metroid mythos and you'd probably get a pretty solid game.

I have to agree with you here.  I didn't mind this game at all, I just didn't like it as a Metroid game.  If there was another Team Ninja/Nintendo collaboration I for one would definitely be interested.

For £10, go ahead and buy the game. That is pretty cheap for a Nintendo game. I think that Metroid Other M is a pretty good game, it is just not a good Metroid game. It is unlike any other game in the series, so it is not really a good introduction.

Like others have said, getting Super Metroid from the Virtual Console would be the best introduction to the series. After that, start with Metroid Prime. If you have a Gamecube controller you can just pick up the Gamecube version. It should be cheaper and easier to find than Metroid Prime Trilogy.

It is not a good metroid game. Some aspects of the game are just bad overall no matter what the game (like head smacking against a wall terrible), what were they thinking with the first person view when you had to spot something to move on.

Edit 1 - I think this was a troll game by nintendo.

Edit 2- Yip as I think about it more definitely a troll game, its like nintendo did this making the game

So you like games with plenty cutscenes and story huh, well here are some cutscenes and story , hahahahaha.

So we never gave samus a voice and stuck in our ways huh, well here is samus talking, hahahahaha.

So you are too lazy to explore and find upgrades huh, well here is some linear gameplay with someone controlling when you can use your weapons, hahahahaha.

So you like traditional controls huh, well here hold the wiimote sideways like an nes contoller that traditional enough for yuh, hahahahaha and oh yeah if you want first person view turn the controller again, hahahaha.

The control mechanic of blasting something from a FP view and toggling quickly worked for me once I got used to it.

It was actually quite satisfying to dodge blasts from a boss and then quickly shift into FP view to blast a bomb back right into its weak point.

Required skill and timing.

Honestly if you cut all the Metroid theme/lame story out and called this game "Razr Blade: Matooor Badass Nintendo Heroine" or something (lol), most people would probably be heaping praise on it as one of the better action games of the last gen.
