There are alot of friends of mines that think the 360 is capable of better graphics, because the xbox had better graphcis than ps2..

There are some that think the wii has better graphcis than the ps3.

I have been on LIVE since 2003 and have never - EVER paid over $30 per year to play online. Only a clueless soul would pay the full $60 per year. I even got a free year from MS this Christmas.

how did you do that,i wanna save 30$ dollars a year and get a free year too

One is shooters.
One .1 is home town advantage, MS is american.

Americans want shooters (which explains Sonys plan of MGS, Killzone, Resistance, Socom all for 08)

It's actually pretty logic if your a hardcore gamer you should choose the xbox360 because it has a lot more good games and is less expensive then the PS3. In almost every genres the 360 has a better game then the PS3. I questioning more EU choosing the PS3 over the 360 anyway.

Well you still pay to play online (60 dollars a year) which sucks ass for me because I don't play online very often.

You don't get any real exclusive features that you could over the PS3

No pre-packaged High Def disk player (ala blu-ray)

No bells and whistles that the PS3 offers like Standard Wi-fi, hard drive, HDMI 1.3, blue tooth headset compatibility, remote play, internet browser, etc etc.

The choice of games is purely opinionated, but the 360 currently has the "higher rated" library, if that's what you go by. The 360's lineup doesn't currently interest me so thats kind of a negligible point.

So if you were going by a "games only" standpoint, sure you "could" say the 360 is more diverse, but if your looking for ANYTHING else, not so much. Considering the only model that really compares to the PS3 is the Elite, and even that doesn't have half the features of a PS3, yet has a higher price tag.

And not to beat a dead horse, but the PS3 is still much more reliable than the 360 :/

Since when do I need the highlighted stuff for gaming? I can spend $199 for a used 360 off eBay and a few bucks for a game - and guess what? I am in the next-gen of HD gaming. The cheapiest way for a PS3 fan? $421 without a game. And a game will run you at least $40. So, you are looking at $450 at least just to play a PS3 game, and God help you if you want to get software BC - it's a much better deal to just get an 80gb with Motorstorm in the end ...

Madskillz I am clueless how?

Go to eBay and look for 12 month xbox or live cards. I have done it for 4 years straight. I have never paid more than $30 per card. And they will usually e-mail you instantly. Print it out and update your account info. Baam - you got LIVE for under $2.50 a month.

As I stated earlier, I get my cards off eBay. You need to start looking a few months before you need to card. If you see a buy it now of $35, PM the person and offer them $30. Usually, they'll bite.

As far as the free year of Live ... I am a journalist and review games. For Christmas, MS shipped me a free year of LIVE for doing a timely, accurate review of their games.

Yes, I know Sony bought them out in the 1980s. For people back then, it raised alot of fear about Japanese companies taking over America. And yes, the PS1 and PS2 did become the dominant console in America, but not with some resistance by the press, people, and media.

It does have alot to do with the history of why Americans are generally more forgiving toward MS and less forgiving toward Sony. In Europe / Japan, it's the opposite situation.
Um, before Sony the consoles and handheld wars were fought b/t Nintendo and Sega, too Japanese companies. Americans (the ones I know), are not more forgiving towards MS than Sony or Nintendo.  Hell, the Xbox barely outsold the Gamecube in America and America was the strongest market for the Gamecube.  You are so far in left field on this one.  There are a ton more Sony or Nintendo fanboys in America than MS fanboys.

currently playing: Desktop Tower Defense (PC), Puzzle Quest (DS), Trauma Center New Blood (Wii), Guitar Hero III (Wii), Ghost Squad (Wii), Actraiser (SNES), Donkey Kong County (SNES), The Legend of Zelda (NES), Kirby's Adventure (NES)

will play next: Paper Mario (N64), Golden Axe II (Sega), NiGHTS (Wii)

A better question is why PS3 is more popular in Japan/Europe. Possibly name recognition?

There seems to be a perception that the U.S. is too self-centered - that Americans only think about things from their own point of view.  It would seem that we are not alone.  I think the best question is this: Why does the U.S. prefer the Xbox 360 while Europe prefers the PS3?  (We have a pretty good idea why the Japanese prefer the PS3 to the Xbox 360.)

 Maybe I'm being too harsh.
