Hmm. Good to know.

In the weekly sales thread Starcraft invited a user to talk here, and now that makes more sense.

Yeah. As Carl alluded too, concerns get aired, discussed - and if necessary adjustments are made.

Lately, bad.

I've been banned a few times. Once was because my account was thought to be a dupe, which led me to making a alternate account to provide literal proof that this wasn't the case (which I still don't get, I have never been banned for using a VPN before). The other times, it's seemed fair, especially my E3 comment which was admittedly unneeded, but these last two bans are, in my opinion, too much.

I got banned first, for calling MS desperate? Well first, I didn't know calling it what it is is a bannable offense (sorry if it offends anyone. Here's the comment:

"Minecraft is on PS4. This would be a tremendous waste of money. Is it possible desperation is making them make more mistakes?"

On the minecraft thread. Now, I don't see anything there breaking the rules. We know MS is desperate and at the time the whole MC deal felt (again, to me, my opinion) like a gigantic waste of money, and a stupid choice. I didn't for one second think calling them desperate was bannable, and if is then I don't even know what to say. Hell, even GAF, renowned for strict moderating, has never banned me for calling them desperate (or using a VPN).

Second ban was even more disagreeable (at least to me). Here's the comment:

"And the game of Limbo continues, how low can they go?

Honestly, aren't they risking devaluing the brand? At this point, anyone with a brain is probably thinking "hmmm, there's a new price cut/promotion every month, might as well wait till it's cheaper next month".

At this rate, I expect a $200 X1 by the end of next year and I see no reason why someone would jump in now. Might as well just wait."

I'd get it if this was just a drive by post, but I actually argue my point (well, until the ban prevented further discussion), and talk about what I mean by devaluing the brand (which I feel is a completely legitimate point. And yes, I honestly think we'll see the X1 hit $200 via promotion/bundles by the end of next year.

So, both those bans were handed out by the same mod, who then accuses me of having an agenda and, again, accuses me of being under suspicion of being an alt, or at least that's how I understood it. "Here's the ban message:

"You are receiving this message for violation of forum rules regarding Trolling (We get it. You don't like Xbox. Lay off, or your next ban will be your last. Your agenda has been painfully transparent since you started posting, and there are many who suspect that you're merely a Dallas alt.) [Post Reference] Please review the forum rules here to avoid future moderation action. Banned: 7 days - Mr.Kahn"

Now, here's the thing. The whole agenda thing, um, I have to ask, what agenda is it? He says so right there, it's no shock that I don't particularly like the X1, so what? How is that an agenda, it's called an opinion, and I'm not going to change it from one thread to the next. Am I overly negative towards it at times, maybe (especially when it comes to sales, since I really don't have much confidence in it), but that shouldn't be grounds for bans. As for the second part, I don't know what more proof I can provide. I literally sent screen caps of my IP address and VPN, I went through the trouble of making another account just to try getting this one back yet still I get accused of being a "Dallas Alt" who again, I don't even know who he is (I've tried searching the account, haven't found it).

So essentially, at this point, I feel like posting anything negative about the X1 (even if I back up my arguments), will get me banned (probably by the same mod). Heck, might get banned for this post for all I know. Now obviously, I don't expect anyone to care about this, and that's fine, but I just wanted to rant a bit. I made an account here because, those the numbers have been way off lately, it's still interesting discussion and the mere mention of this site on Gaf will buy me a one way ticket out of my account. And heck, I've only ever been banned once from there, and it wasn't a gaming related comment.

I don't post nearly enough on here to go through all this trouble (getting accused of using alts, is especially annoying). I don't get why using a VPN would get one banned, I just don't (and for reference, as I'm positing this, I'm doing so from my home IP, VPN Is off).

So that's pretty much all I wanted to say. Again, I expect no one to care, probably I'll get called a troll a few times or told I have some agendas, that's fine. If posting negatively in regards to the X1 is a bannable offense then I guess it's just a matter of time since I'm not about to change my opinion because a mod threatens me with a perm. I've no agenda beyond making my opinion known (whether or not others agree with it, that's the point of a discussion forum). I made this post now because I personally feel the last two bans handed out by Mr.Khan are uncalled for and overly harsh (the rest of the moderating has been reasonable barring the whole alt account issue).

So if you got to the end of this post, then thanks for taking the time, I realize it's a wall of text. I like the community here (well, most of it anyways), but this is too much. It seems this site is the only one where you can post about it's numbers, since GAF will ban me if I even mention it, and reddit will downvote pretty much anything related to it.

I think that would have been the problem with your second ban. A couple hundred thousand people buy an Xbox One every month and you are effectively calling them brainless/stupid for doing so with that comment. If that one part had been worded a little differently I don't think that post would really warrant moderation.

Bingo. Wary's free to criticize MS strategy, to be sure, or even talk about how he feels they're in a bad position. He just tends to insult people in the process which is where it goes overboard.

The problem is, that is all you do. Which is exactly why people thought you were a Dallas alt, because all he did here was make negative MS posts. It doesn't contribute to the forum, you don't contribute to the forum with that attitude. And before you say it, no nobody expects you to be all sunshine and roses about MS, but you go out of your way to cause a rucus and talk negative about MS. Your post history prooves this.

Sensitive in a vacuum, hell yeah. Less so when you consider the history of FPS_Dominator (i went easy on him compared to the suggested ban length from his record, should've been up for 2 weeks, i gave him 1).

I deliberated about it, but figured he especially should know better given all the times he's been banned for this.

Ali_16, now, he deserved that hands down.

Saying someone seems to be illerate is the only thing remotely close to something that could be classified as an insult.

I don't think he should go unpunished, but the ban description is bad.

In his case it was more about how long it carried on, i think, though i'm not conegamer and can't read his mind.
