Forums - Gaming Discussion - I have never played Pokémon.

 Until today.

After years of ``dude you have to play it, it's amazing!``. I decided to give it a try, and to make things more fun, I thought it would be cool to see your responses to a total n00b playing this game for the first time in a kinda of mix between diary and ``Let's Play``.

My friend recommended HeartGold so HeartGold it is.

Well, Let's play it then.(Any suggestions to what should I do next in the game are much appreciated since I won't be taking any from my friends)

                       Yeah sure, why not?                                                                        Geez, that's a tough one Professor.

Yeah, ok, so apparently I live in a world full of really strange animals. But what really shocked me at first was to discover that I live in a world full of rednecks :

                                                                       lol, yeah I named myself HOLYCOW.

Then, mom gave me stuff and said that Professor Elm was looking for me or something. Like a good son that I am, I went to see him and I have a question: Am I special or something? Because I'm sure that Professors don't go around giving research subjects to anyone.

                                                                         Where the fuck is pikachu? I wanted to be like Ash!

 I decided to choose Cyndaquil based on a lot of mathematical nuances, and biologic characteristics: It's the cutest one.

 Di-di-la-ri-doo, Di-di-la-ri-daa, I have to go see Mr Pokémon(what a lovely name) as a task given by Professor Elm. So route 20-something is where I'm headed.

          Isn't that a fire hazard to the forest?                                           Geodude? As in Geology Dude? Who names those things?

Arriving at Cherrygrove City I realized something:

 Free stuff from mom, free Pokémon from Prof. Elm, free potions from Elm's assistant, free health care, free shoes from random old man, FUCK, people in this world  are nice.

After a few battles on the way, here I am at Mr. Pokémon's house, where him and Professor Oak give me more free stuff: A Pokédex and an egg. Professor Oak tells me I'm special, says we'll meet again in the future, and requires that we exchange numbers, so he's basically hitting on me.

Don't give me that look you sick old bastard.

Time to go back to Professor Elm, who just called to say that something went wrong in Wegivefreedangerousanimalsville. What a shock right?

On my way there, a red-haired girl stopped me and demanded a fight. I defeated her, and went straight  to the Prof. Elm's lab where apparently she stole a pokémon and a policeman asked me her name:

         I refuse to belive that was a boy.                                                        HOLYCOW! It sure is Professor.

More talk, more talk, it looks like now I'm a pokémon adventurer/trainer and I'll travel the whole world to be a pokémon master(god knows what that means) all that with dangerous creatures that can kill you any second, and hey! All that before my 20s! I guess that math and science aren't that important right? Yeah. Also, your mother is waaaay too comfortable with the whole idea.

  Some of it? SOME of it? What a sweet deal!                                                                                          More free stuff...

Well, that's it for now. So far I like the game and I can see why it's so popular(specially among kids, holy cow, those pokémons sure are cute).

What pokémon should I get next? Geology Dude? High-on-cannabis Owl(Hoothoot)? Rattata? Please tell me.

And to finish:

LOL

Ok, I'm not going to lie. That was hilarious XD

I haven't played HeartGold, but if you haven't yet, you'll want to catch a few extra Pokemon. Make sure to level them up alongside your starter, because having one tank while everything else is low-level won't get you too far.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

"Ok, girl's trapped in the elevator, and the power's off.  I swear, if a zombie comes around the next corner..."

It's already too late, but you should have saved the game before getting your first pokemon and pick it with a good nature.

Great thread! xD I always thought Geodude was named after a Geode though (like a mineral structure thing)

~~~~ Mario Kart 8 drove far past my expectations! Never again will I doubt the wheels of a Monster Franchise! :0 ~~~~
Since you are playing via emulation, have fun with cheats.
Complete the pokedex!
Awesome stuff!
I haven't played Pokémon in years myself (FireRed being my last purchase), but I'll always have fond memories of it.
The first one I caught in Pokémon Gold was Hoothoot. I didn't train it a lot after it evolved though (because let's be honest: Flying types suck), but I kept it throughout the game since it learned how to fly, which is extremely convenient after a while.
If you are looking for an advantageous Pokémon type, go for electric. Only ground attacks are super effective against them, and they are often very fast!
Good hunting! =)
Avoid this pokemon like the plague.
Get a Krabby!
Can you explain it a little bit better? How do I know if a Pokémon has a good nature?
Check your pokemon's status to see what its "Nature" is, and check the list in the link provided and you'll see what it does.
Ok, I just checked and my Cyndaquil has a brave nature. Thanks.
