Forums - PC Discussion - Anybody Playing CS: GO ?

I wanted to get the opinions on GO from other Long term CS players.  I've been playing well over 10 years and it's by far my most played online FPS.  Do you guys LIke GO or will you be sticking with CSS?  Also add me on Steam and join some games with me.

I myself am really enjoying go and honestly like it more then CSS.  It certainly needs some fine tuning and I feel they nerfed the m4 and ak a bit.

I was interested in getting it, but I watched a lot of gameplay commentators on youtube the first day of release and all of them were complaining that the game felt exactly like the previous CS game.

Tried the 360 version... Ugh, I hate the average controls. ill be sticking with CS 1.6.

Yay!!!

I only played the trial but I don't know if it can really stack up to CSS. I mean, graphically it is a nice step up and runs really smooth. Controls are pretty solid as well, but it is just hard to compare it to PC. I guess you could play it with a keyboard and mouse though(PS3). Most of what I did in CSS were mod games and you'd need to stick to PC for that. It's been a long time since I played some CS and that hour was nice, but having played so much CoD in between I miss some of the mechanics that CS doesn't use. Isn't there suppose to be a zoom? I couldn't find it.

Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(

I've been playing CS since 1.4, it's my most played game ever. I recently bought the PS3 version of CS GO. Here are my impressions:

Cons:

- Matchmaking for finding servers... common for consoles now, but it just isn't nearly as good as the server list option
- 5v5 max for battles, very disappointing. I loved pubing in sizes of 8v8 or 12v12
- No quick switch for grenades without going thru knife
- Beyond useless BOTS
- Not enough maps
- No communication - can't type like on PC, or use quick commands, and not enough people use mics
- Knifing feels off

Pros:

- Nice graphics, especially for a cheaper, downloadable game
- The two new game modes are very fun, although are basically copies of PC mods
- The buy menu is surprisingly easy to use without a mouse
- Controls in general work better than I expected
- Good stat/award system

Overall, it's not a bad game. At the end of the day though, you might as well be playing 1.6 or Source. They run on almost every computer and are still full of people. As much as this game feels like a CS game, without more than 10 people in a room and the complete lack of social interaction, it gives the game almost an eery feel.

I'd say buy it for the new game modes and fun trophies to hunt for, but don't expect this to become your new staple of counter strike gaming.

Alot of your cons would be resolved if you purchased on Computer.  I also like the ability to take over the bots.

Well my review was for the PS3 version, and for potential console buyers.

But your point is valid and what I was saying, this game on consoles will not replace any of the PC versions if you are a regular CS player.

As for PC, If the game is as similar to Source as it feels when playing on PS3, I don't think it will do much more than split the community or burn away ala Condition Zero.

I got this for PC cause that is where this game is meant to be played. Been playing CS for probably 12 years or so (started playing it at 1.0 or 1.1, and got serious into it at 1.3), also by far my most played game.

So, CS:GO is a very good game. It continues with the core of CS:S with some additional tweaks. It was hard at first to even know who is who and getting used to the new recoil system was a task i could have done without.

Changes
- Para seems overpowered and has an incredible rate of fire
- recoil system has been tweaked, so it requires adjusting
- only having 1 flashbang (rather than 2) has denied me of many of my rushing strategies
- molotov's/incendiary nades destroy rushes
- jumps are a lot smoother with far less slow-down
- some of the new guns are interesting, I am liking the Tech 9 and Bizon
- they took out one of my favorite weapons, the TMP. it was my favorite weapon to rush with and was broken hearted to find out it has been removed.
- the M4 doesn't have a silencer anymore, and has made the ak an even better choice than before
- knifing is still sweet as chocolate fondue
- i hate hate hate the new buy system, unless i bind hotkeys again, this system is just so time consuming on a keyboard, i just cant purchase my loadout on the fly like i used to, its seems finnicky and its been created specifically for the console and analog stick in mind. very unfortunate.
- BARRELS DON'T MOVE AND FUCK YOUR LIFE UP ANYMORE!!!!

Honestly, I am still getting a hang of things, still figuring out which weapons i like best, still getting a feel for the recoil on all the weapons, but im having a tremendous time doing it. will i go back to source? maybe occasionally, but i see myself playing GO quite a bit.
