Because the PS3 will be around for 8 years. Will the Wii? Becuase in 8 years the Wii will have graphics like... well... like it does now. But like a 10 year old computer.

If the Wii is dominate, and games for the PS3/360 start go go away, I hate to say it, but I saw the death of home PCs with this generation of game consoles. However if the Wii wins, Computers will stamp game consoles out... agian. 


Which system had better graphics XBox, Gamecube or PS2? Which system stayed around longer?

Why did the least powerful system (PS2) have the longest life?

Because the way it's used, it implies that the Wii is a low-quality item and is only selling on hype which will at some point soon suddenly and immediately die off.  It's used as some kind of long-term wishful thinking that the other consoles can catch up 'cause in 2 years the Wii sales will grind to a relative halt and start selling at or even below GC levels.

 Come again?  Point out a single comment I've made here that can even be deemed "positive" for Wii. 

"The West criticizes our Holocaust convention because they hate free speech.  I can't cite an example of them hating free speech, but you have to trust me."

It's like you're reviewing every comment you make based on someting Ahmedinejad has already done or said.

The correct answer (which suprisingly enough explains the lifespan of the NES, SNES, Gameboy, Gameboy Advance, Playstation and PS2 having long lives) is because it sold better than the other consoles.

 MtG was not a fad. It started in 1993 and spawned numerous knockoffs and is still going strong with millions of players competing in tournaments every year.

The Wii, however, may be a fad but we won't know until it's over. We can project that it will be a fad though. I think it's going to get old fast because there is only so much you can do with the Wiimote. My friend who has never owned anything but Nintendo consoles (yes, including the game cube) is over the Wii and he's only had it for 5 months.

 DDR was a fad because it was extremely popular for a while and then it got old. Why was it popular? Because it was a different way to play a video game. It got old though because there is only so much you can do with a dancing pad.
