Which milestone will occur first: 3DS 30m or PSV 5m?

Both before Jan 5th, but 3DS first 77 16.67%

What worldwide sales milestone will be crossed first? Is it 30 million for 3DS? Or is it 5 million for PSV?

Also, which milestone will be crossed before the 2012 holiday season, and which one after? More specifically, before or after the week ending Jan 5th 2013? (Yes, that week is mostly in 2013, but still posts big numbers especially in Japan).

I think PSV will reach 5 mill before the end of the year, whereas 3DS might not reach 30 mill until the beginning of next year

PSV before 5th Jan, 3DS after.

The PSV only needs 2.3m to get there, 3DS needs 10.8. Without a holiday mega-seller I can't see 3DS making it, but with the holidays boost, COD/AC, and bundling, 2.3m seems doable for the Vita by then.

I see, I went with Both before Jan 5th, but with 3DS being the first. Let's not forget that 3DS sold roughly 8 million consoles in the 2011 holiday quarter alone.

That was with the help of 3D Land and Kart, these holidays it has no such mega-pusher.

I think it will be close, but with no Mario for 3DS this holiday season I think vita will just about win it. Regardless will keep a close eye on this thread.

Congratz to your first thread - its a fun and interesting one!!

I think it'll be a close call which one reaches it's limit first... It should be PSV reaching 5m first, with CoD and AC coming out - it only needs 2.5m more... The 3DS on the other hand is selling great, and NSMB2 really should boost those sales togather with the XL... Both will reach their milestones before Jan 5th... And PSV will do it first :p that or it's good bye Vita :p

Lol...Vita will win what excatly with 5 mil units sold worldwide lifetime by Jan 5th.  I am so surprised on how low of an expectation people have of the system.  Earlier, this year many were saying it would surpass the 3DS in sales and now we are being bothered by sales of 5 mil by Jan? o_O  Please give the system at least 6-7mil by that time.  Anyways I do believe Nintendo will have userbase of 30mil by early to mid Jan2013.

Yeah, those did help 3DS alot last holiday, but this holiday we have Animal Crossing (was a 5m seller in Japan, and should sell a couple million in both US and Europe) and Paper Mario which would help a bit. Not to mention the 3DS baseline will be higher this time around with the effect of 3DS XL and NSMB2 which should last into the holidays.
