Riddick

Phantom Dust - I found this to be the most visually impressive game on the Xbox

I added Dreamcast to the list, feel free to contribute Dreamcast games as well, and specs, and tech demo vids.

On a side note ...

With how much of a sales lead the PS2 had developers devoted a ton of resources to improving game performance on the PS2 and this makes me wonder what games would have looked like for the Dreamcast, XBox and Gamecube had similar resources been devoted to those platforms.

The games that pushed each respective console the hardest were.

PS2 - God of War 2

Xbox - Chronricles of Riddick

GC - Rebel Strike

Dreamcast - Shenmue

Each of those respective games used the most of what each consle had to offer technically.

Lots of games "cheat" to create results that surpass their technical limitations ... With the Gamecube the pre-rendering of the Resident Evil Remake and Resident Evil 0 are good examples of this, there were a wide variety of ways to "fake" bump mapping on the PS2, and most portable systems have seen amazing creativity in finding ways around their low processing power to produce interesting effects.

Starfox adventures, RE4 and Rebel Strike impressed me the most last gen

Everyone knew that was CG just like the original RE games. That wasn't cheating. Nobody ever mentioned RE Remake and 0 as examples of technical capability. At least not as far as environments are concerened.

PS2 also did fake bloom with Black and other such things. Nobody is arguing any of what you just said.

best looking game last gen:

Graphically, Fox had Conquer beat all day when it came to fur rendering, lighting quality and character detail.

Its hard to find good screenshots of this game.

this thread is depressing.

should have taken out the GCN stuff.

Most those screens look better than the Wii efforts.

Game - Metro Last Light

TV - Deadwood

Music - Forest Swords

No. Not even theoretically could the Xbox's Pentium 3 based Celeron outperform the PowerPC processor in the GC.

The GPU was less advanced but used more modern technology that was easier to program. There was no similarity.

The fact still remains to this day.

The max achieved on the Xbox in an actual game was 12 million polygons at 30 FPS with minimal effects.

The max achieved on the GC in an actual game was 20 million polygons at 60 FPS with full bump mapping, dynamic self-shadows, bloom lighting andenemy/enivornmental destruction with over a 100 A.I. controllered enemeis on screen at once.

Those are the facts till the end of time.

I've tried looking it up and every source said the Xbox was more powerful than the Gamecube. Also, you're forgetting that the Xbox could output in 720p.
