1 Doom article
2 Very factual analysis

What's the point of their regrouping again ?

doom and gloom

And the 2nd article wasn't just a factual analysis, the writer's opinion was expressed and sometimes just plain wrong. For example, he writes "Now, it’s succeeding to some degree, though it’s still far behind both of its competitors."

Outselling it's 2 competitors each week = "now succeeding to some degree"?

2m behind 360 after one year less on the market = "far behind"?

And all 3 of these articles would attract largely the same reactions, discussions and arguments so why make 3 different threads for it?

The 2nd article was factual - in your example you should understand "success" as a financial / brand / etc ; the gamecube regained power for its brand and was financially sound - that kind of success

And yes, in terms of positionionning itself (again, think brand & financial power, partnerships) it is far behind.

Still not answering - why regrouping them ? You don't seem to complain about "dispersion" on other topics...

He was not speaking "in terms of positioning itself." He was referring to sales, he mentions it previously and he mentions that the redesign led to a comeback, which is clearly referring to sales.

Still not answering - why regrouping them ? You don't seem to complain about "dispersion" on other topics...

No, I don't seem to. I'm not vocal about my complaints, but this doesn't mean it doesn't bug me. And I did answer the question. "all 3 of these articles would attract largely the same reactions, discussions and arguments so why make 3 different threads for it?"

Stop derailing my thread please, feel free to PM me though.

Don't confuse contradiction with derailing.

1/ If you only consider success in matter of sales no wonder you miss the entire point of the article.

2/ To be honest regrouping these articles is a mistake. The thread that follows has it's scope bonelessly extended to seemingly pro-Sony vs anti-Sony. We all know how specific points are easier to debate than these "all in one" blur. So your "answer" didn't highlight a benefit - on the contrary...

What contradiction?

1/ If you only consider success in matter of sales no wonder you miss the entire point of the article.

Now you're twisting my words, I've never said sales is the only measure of success. HE was referring to sales, at least in the quote I posted.

People were going to see these articles in the suggestions on the homepage, and then make 3 different threads that will produce very similar content. That content being a lot of arguments, so rather than having 3 threads of largely the same content, why not just have one to not clog the forums?

The people who can be rational and have civilized debates will know how to focus on one specific point or article at a time if they want to.

Seeing as you're the only one who has a problem/gives a shit it obviously isn't a big deal. So what is the point in almost now taking up a whole page with this pointless argument? If you post here again about this I'll report you for derailing this thread, I have no problem with answering your complaints in a PM or on my wall, so just post it there.

Considering the heights of the PS2, Sony is absolutely in shambles. But if you just take a look at how they are doing, it's not so bad. I think the reason people rip on them this gen is because the PS2 was the most dominant home console in gaming history and crushed it's competition into submission because the gen even STARTED.

They've fallen very, very far.

Report me for derailing ? When was I not on topic ?

I leave this anyway - your answer are getting worse by the post...

If Sony was in much better financial shape they could probably make a trade off of short/medium term financial losses and increased sales for the PS-Vita; and make it a viable platform through brute force; in the financial shape they're in I think they're in trouble.

Right now third party publishers are (probably) using current sales, along with historic console sales, to predict the sales of the PS-Vita over the next few years. They will also predict the sales of all other platforms that have been or will be released, and they will allocate their development teams today based on those predictions. Realistically, they will probably be estimating total sales of around 12 million by the end of 2013, and 16 to 21 million by the end of 2014. With sales in this range most publishers would have significant doubts that their resources would be best suited to be used on the PS-Vita, and they would probably allocate them elsewhere.

Sorry if i came off harsh, it might have helped if i wasn't in the back set of the truck bouncing around trying to read this post. Anyway, my comments are directed at the articles and the writers of each. If you didn't write them then fine. Yes, I'm blaming the trolls for constantly bashing in any vita news, Most the people talking trash have never held one, never played one of the great games, they claim don't belong on a hand held. Although it's more than a simple handheld and it needs to be in this day and age. Many of the people that say it too expensive, or the memory is to pricey are more than willing to shell out over 500 to apple for a useless Ipad. Apple restrained Ipad and phone users in memory options. At least Sony gave you the choice to get a smaller card to save money. How are the developers being lazy? All the port for the systems have been better than their console counterparts, Like all DLC and extra challenge towers for the vita version. The vita has a nice line up for the holidays and should help move some consoles, and many seem to be holding out for the white vita, which i might just have to pick up another. People will find anyway to spin anything to make their argument, Sure Sony stumbled at start of the PS3, but they have made a great recovery and are in a better position for the following gens. PS3 is going to fall in the middle of ps1 and 2 as for as consoles sold. Any one trying to say 75 million psp sold is a failure needs to have their head check, there's no logic in that at all.

Doomed is a dumb word. People should stop using it.

It's more relevant to discuss whether Vita will be a financial success for Sony and third parties in the long run. That's the only thing that matters.
