It is hard to believe the Wii is even in front of the PS3 in Australia really; if you lived here you would appreciate just how hated Nintendo was as a console maker with the GCN. It was illogical hate too, it just seemed no one wanted to know about Nintendo.

^ which is why PS3 is selling quite well in comparison [ie about 1-2 months behind when aligning launches] actually the first 30 weeks show all three consoles selling at the same rate,... PS3 and Wii recieved a boost after 30 weeks, which seems to be the price cut in October/November for PS3, and for Wii 30 weeks is mi-summer so must have been a supply increase.

the only way that would happen is if the PS3 sold 200k each month and the wii/360 stoped selling

yes they are giving it away for free, because it is the only way they will move PS3 units in this country quicker to try to catch up to Wii. So what if the TV costs 3000bux?

People are shopping for TVs all the time. If they see a so called "free" something with a tv offcourse they will buy that TV over competition.

Most people would be buying samsung LCD's over Sony Bravias here if it wasn't for the free PS3. THat is hwo the trend was before the free PS3 deal.

It is only $250 more, which is resonable for blu-ray and HD gaming. The problem with the PS3 is game price $100-130AU v $50-100AU

There are two things wrong with that article.

First, the report seems to come from a PS-fan-site that does not source the original article.

Two, the PS3 has been third (among the three consoles) in sales each week in Australia since Oct. 22. Thus, it is LOSING ground.

They said, 155,000 ps3 sold (it's sony who said that, so it's probably shipped) in Australia for the last quarter of 2007.

For this period, vgchartz say : 87,680 ps3 sold

It's not really the same number.

And, you speak of 175,000 ps3 LTD. So, it's not possible with this number of sony, if it's the consoles sold to consumer.

Is someone, who knows an australia source for that, can clarify the situation.
