Google Android Beats Apple iPhones: Both Trounce RIM and Microsoft
ComScore is out with its latest smart phone marketshare report and the hardware winner is Samsung while, collectively, Android phones account for 51.6% of all smart phone subscribers. Apple‘s share is 32.4%. Blackberry maker Research in Motion (RIM) is a distant third at 10.7% while Microsoft represents only 3.8% of sales.
Samsung, with 25.6% is the leading smart phone maker followed by LG (18.8%), Apple (15.4%) and Motorola (11.7%). HTC has 6.4% of the market.
More smart phones
The reports said that 110 people in the U.S. owned smart phones as of June 12, up 4% from March. As per usage, 75% of mobile subscribers used text messaging on their phone, 51.4% download apps, 50.2% used a browser and 36.9% access social networking sites or blogged. All of these numbers were up slightly from March.
