Forums - Gaming Discussion - The Fanboy Thread

Let's have some fun with this one and let your inner fanboy out.  Try to keep it civil, but let's see what people think of their own biases!

Me?  I'm probably closest to being a Sony fanboy.  I'm really not, as I own and love all my consoles for their strengths, but I've been with Sony ever since my parents forced a PS1 on me instead of the N64 I wanted and it turned out to be pretty damn awesome.  While my opinion on the PS1 has soured lately (I still can't get over how clunky and ugly those games were, save a few standouts), it wasn't till the PS2 that I became a true believer.  Granted, I never really got into the fanboy wars until Xbox fanboys stunk up the place with false claims against the PS2, and assertion of their own superiority. Got REAL bad when the PS3 came out (granted, its start was a disaster), and they were on that like a pod of sharks on blood.

The thing is, I like sony most because they have the games I like, and are backed with the business practices that I can agree with.  I refuse to pay for Xbox Live, but I will probably be renewing my PS+ subscription when that runs out, and while the PSN outage from last year...well..it sucked real bad, but it wasn't a BIG deal for me, not as bad as when my Xbox red ringed and Microsoft refused to fix it.

all of the companies have had their trip-ups through the years, but on a balance scale once I factor in game lists, feature lists, options, price, and business practices, I can't imagine not supporting Sony.

If it wasn't for the fact that the Wii practically died these last few years (one or two AAA titles a year is not enough to compete), I'd be saying the same about Nintendo, but alas, they've let me down even though I'll always love them.

I just don't like Microsoft.  Love their controller, and I love my Xbox becuase there are tonnes of games on there that I enjoy, but I just don't like Microsoft's approach to the games industry.

so, are you a fanboy?  let it out!  let's have some fun with this!

I'm a Sonic and Nintendo fanboy (weird mix?). No matter how many times they disappoint me, I still love them and believe in them. It's a feeling and relationship that can be somewhat compared with familial relationships.

I love Sony because their consoles were the first, second and third I owned. They got me into gaming - and although I'm sure I'd probably have found my way here anyway, they shaped my interest in the medium to what it is today which is something I'm very thankful for.

I have a lot of very precious memories over the years from Sony consoles and the best part is that they're still making great new memories for me every passing year.

The irrational hatred I see towards them from various people only makes me like them more, in all honesty.

I also like Nintendo - not as much as Sony, but still quite a lot. When they get something right, they get it really, really right.

Baahhaaha, what a fantastic idea, I love it!

I'm totally a shameless Nintendo fanboy. I love the company and all of its rich history in the world of games and entertainment. Their breakout success with the NES and the Gameboy will never be forgotten and are seared into my memory. The games I enjoyed on the Nintendo systems during Nintendo's glory days I called "Nintendo" games, and what a shock when most of those flocked to the Playstation platform, it was a pivotal point in my fan life. As of that point, I could not forget the past and avidly read the sales chartz trying to see if Nintendo could squeeze some space in the Japanese top games lists. I was addicted to Nintendo winning, and that hasn't changed :)

So, yeah, I'm an unashamed Nintendo fanboy, and I love every second of it! :D

Don't believe HappyD, he's a Gray.

I will never ever buy a console other than a Nintendo on with in the first five years of its lifecycle. Nintendo is always a first year purchase for me no matter what. I barely touched my Gamecube , but that did not stop me from buying two of them. I have access to a 360, but if a game came out on the wii as well I would just get that. CoD: Mw3 would be a good example for that.

I do enjoy Sony consoles though, and like the PS2 I will get the PS3 wwhen it hits 100 bucks with a bunch of used games.

Bahahahaha! To that point a fanboy, Spurgey! XD

Yeah, I also like the Playstations and I think the PS2 was a monster king of a console, truly dominated its gen in terms of content and marketshare. The 360 controller was a huge improvement over the Xbox's, but I found the first design (prior to slim) to be a bit cumbersome. I nearly bought a 360 when SFIV came out, and that was early on in the 360's lifetime, right when the Arcade model came out. I also prefer COD on the 360, and own a PS3.

I am not a fanboy of any gaming company. I am a Game of Thrones fanboy though!

Apple could be considered a Gaming Company by some.

I am a Nintendo fanboy because I am scared of blood, I like kiddie stuff and I don't like storylines and new Ips.

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

Final Fantasy, Dragon Warrior, Megaman, Castlevania, Ninja Gaiden, Metal Gear, all were Nintendo games at one point in their lives, and most even started on the Nintendo platform.
